Sox Add Boof To Winter Meeting Shopping Cart...Say What?

The Boston Red Sox continue to be the (laughing stock)...er, talk of the Annual Winter Meetings by announcing a trade for the venerable Boof Bonser...Say what?

Bonser, who missed the entire 2008 season due to right shoulder surgery, has a career record of 18-25 with a 5.12 ERA. The 28-year-old right-hander has 96 career MLB appearances with 60 of them being starts.

In his last full season with the Twins in 2008, Bonser went 3-7 with a 5.93 ERA, striking out 97 and walking 36 in 47 games (12 starts).

If It Ain't Broke: Red Sox Don't Need Big Splash To Win in 2010

So far this offseason, no team has been the subject of more attention than the Boston Red Sox.

Will they re-sign Bay or go after Holliday? Was signing Scutaro inevitable or should Dustin Pedroia have been pushed to shortstop? Will Adrian Gonzalez, Miguel Cabrera, or Roy Halladay be playing at Fenway on Opening Day 2010?

These questions have been posed and answered by countless analysts, writers, and idiots with keyboards since the Red Sox’s season ended two months ago.

Gammons, who has been with ESPN since 1989, said that the decision to leave was "conflicted."

This is far from comprehensive. But here goes.

1. Peter Gammons is leaving ESPN. Never liked the guy. I hate the Red Sox.

Boston Red Sox Sign "Perfect Fit" Marco Scutaro

The revolving door that is the Red Sox shortstop position just got another new occupant.

After Alex Gonzalez signed with the Toronto Blue Jays, Boston responded by signing Toronto’s shortstop Marco Scutaro to a two-year deal, with a mutual option for a third season.

A lot of people in the Red Sox organization are excited about the deal.
