Getting Ready For The Redlegs: Infield/Catcher

A lot has been said about the Reds and their "young" talent.  While there are many prospects in the organization with untapped potential, there are also veterans with a wealth of knowledge and experience.  If the regulars can stay relatively healthy, the infield is one area that Dusty Baker should not have to worry about much this season.

Aroldis Chapman Throws Off Mound at Spring Training

Aroldis Chapman: the savior, the next best thing, or the next Randy Johnson. All things might be true, but it has to start somewhere.

The Reds' prized new acquisition threw a bullpen session for about two hours on Thursday, and to people who witnessed it, said that he threw well and felt well after.

Chapman, who was just recently signed a six year contract worth over $30 million, has been speculated to be one of the best new pitchers in the game, and the Reds are hoping they hit a jackpot.

Brandon Phillips: What's His Trade Market?

Yesterday, I talked about one of the Cincinnati Reds trade candidates, Bronson Arroyo . Well today, I’ll talk about another Reds trade candidate, second baseman Brandon Phillips.

Phillips has had a pretty interesting career so far. He has been involved in two extremely lopsided trades.

Would Mark DeRosa Be a Nice Fit With the Cincinnati Reds?

I repeat my assertion that the Reds need a solid shortstop to be an authentic contender for the Central Division championship. I have had my fill of Juan Castro's, Felipe Lopez's (though look at him now), Enrique Cruz's and Alex Gonzalez's until I could puke.

Jeff Keppinger filled in for nearly a year and did an adequate job. I think they sent him to Houston while my back was turned shortly before the season began.

For the Minnesota Twins, Brandon Phillips is the Answer

In baseball, it’s not always easy to find the answers.

To this day it seems that almost no pitchers have found the answer to Albert Pujols’ bat and no hitters—except Chase Utley—have found the answer for CC Sabathia’s left arm.

Today, however, there is one question that can be answered unequivocally:

Tribe Has Options With Vacant Manager Position

Eric Wedge inherited a young and talented baseball team seven years ago when he took over as manger of the Tribe.

Reds' Promising Season Beginning To Unravel

An achy back sidelines your dominant young hurler.

A freak accident causes a hairline fracture to the thumb of your hot-hitting all-star second baseman.

A strange ailment that started as mysterious dizzy spells and has changed to a stress-related condition has put your best hitter on the DL.

Just like that, the promising season of the Cincinnati Reds has begun to unravel.

Is 10-Game Stretch “Make or Break” For Reds?

The young Cincinnati Reds are a hanging tough at 26-20.

They are currently 1 1/2 games behind the division-leading St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Central.  They also trail the Milwaukee Brewers by a half game.  The Reds are leading the preseason favorites, the Chicago Cubs, by three games.

Reds Complete Sweep, Crush Diamondbacks 10-3

The Reds continued to roll on the road last night, beating Arizona 10-3. That win completed the three-game series sweep. The Reds are now 13-5 on the road, a mark easily good enough for the best in baseball.

The Reds offense came up with 14 hits. Ryan Hanigan, Chris Dickerson, Jerry Hairston, and Brandon Phillips each had two knocks. Phillips has now hit in 11 games in a row. Willy Taveras extended his hitting streak to 13 games by collecting three hits.

As a team, the Reds scored 20 runs on 38 hits in the series against the Diamondbacks.

Cincinnati Reds vs Pittsburgh Pirates: Aaron Harang Blanks the Buccos 2-0

Reds ace Aaron Harang pitched the best Reds fans have seen him in quite a few starts as he looked dominate.

Harang (1-1) pitched a great day going the distance throwing a complete game shutout.

Aaron Harang gave up a mere three hits while striking out nine and walking none.
