MLB fans were left in the dark Tuesday night when Fox's television broadcast of Game 1 of the World Series between the New York Mets and Kansas City Royals was interrupted by technical difficulties.    

According to Eric Fisher of SportsBusiness Journal, this is the image televisions across the country were presented with when Fox's broadcast truck in Kansas City, Missouri, lost power: 

The Kansas City Royals will face the New York Mets in Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday night, but they could be without one of their key postseason contributors for some of the Fall Classic.

Game 1 of the World Series could be in danger, as rain has been coming down throughout the afternoon in Kansas City, Missouri. The first pitch is scheduled for 8:07 p.m. ET.

Veteran second baseman Chase Utley is in the market for a new team after completing his 13th season in the major leagues.

Utley's representative, Joel Wolfe, told Joel Sherman of the New York Post on Tuesday that the 36-year-old will be playing baseball next season. 

Game 1 of the World Series between the Kansas City Royals and New York Mets wound up being an instant classic, as it took five hours and 14 innings to find a winner.

The Royals, with their postseason magic on full display, managed to scrape out a 5-4 victory to keep home-field advantage.

You could look at it as the Mets coughing up a game in which they had several leads or the Royals being a gritty team that never dies, but it's probably a mixture of both. 

As a long offseason begins for the Toronto Blue Jays, star slugger Edwin Encarnacion will be on the shelf for a period of time due to a sports hernia.

After 19 seasons, Torii Hunter has decided to call it quits on his MLB career. The 40-year-old outfielder announced Monday he will officially retire.   

On Monday, the Kansas City Royals announced their pitching rotation for the World Series, which begins Tuesday at Kauffman Stadium against the New York Mets. 

Three decades' worth of postseason futility will come to an end for either the Kansas City Royals or New York Mets this season. Based on the way things are going, that's a good thing for the secondary ticket market.
