The Boston Red Sox used their fourth-round pick to select Missouri State outfielder Tate Matheny, the son of St. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Matheny, Tuesday.  

Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal noted the selection:

With a little over a month remaining until the July 14 MLB All-Star Game, Major League Baseball released the third voting update for the National League Tuesday, and it features some extremely intriguing races.

Here is a look at where things currently stand in the NL with three more updates due before voting officially closes, according to MLB Communications:

From a talent perspective, Duke starting pitcher and right-hander Michael Matuella was one of the most intriguing players in the 2015 MLB draft. But injuries caused him to fall down the board before the Texas Rangers selected him in the third round.

Rafael Soriano, the well-traveled relief pitcher who has spent the last two years with the Washington Nationals, has reportedly found his home for 2015.

The first two rounds and 75 selections are in the books after an eventful Monday night, but there is plenty of big league-caliber talent still on the board.

The action picks up once again Tuesday at 1 p.m. ET with Rounds 3-10 as hundreds more amateur players will see their names called and their pro careers begin.

If you're going to hit your first major league home run, you might as well make it a walk-off.

That's exactly what Atlanta Braves catcher Christian Bethancourt did Saturday night versus the Pittsburgh Pirates.

With the game tied 4-4 in the bottom of the ninth, Bethancourt crushed the first pitch he saw over the right field fence.

As expected, he was mobbed when he crossed home plate.

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Jake Odorizzi left June 5's game against the Seattle Mariners with tightness in his left side.

Still without a diagnosis, Odorizzi told Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune that he will see a doctor on Monday:

Evan Longoria has been helping to turn things around this season in Tampa Bay, but he will be sidelined on June 6 against the Seattle Mariners with the announcement that he hurt his wrist. He will be day-to-day.
