Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre became the 52nd member of the 400 home run club when he hit a solo shot off Cleveland Indians pitcher Bruce Chen in the first inning of Friday's game at Globe Life Park in Arlington, per ESPN Stats & Info.

Washington Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth left Friday's game against the San Diego Padres after he was hit on the wrist by a pitch. He was out of the lineup Saturday.

Texas Rangers veteran Adrian Beltre is nearing the end of what has been a very successful career, and the four-time All-Star hit a major milestone on Friday.

In the bottom of the first inning against the Cleveland Indians, Beltre clobbered a home run to dead center. The solo shot was the 400th of his MLB career, which began all the way back in 1998 for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

I thought that the smokestacks at Great American Ball Park were just for show.

During Friday night's game between the Cincinnati Reds and San Francisco Giants, one of the smokestacks in the outfield caught fire.

According to John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle, the fire forced fans to be evacuated from the bleachers:

The Pittsburgh Pirates were able to overcome a large deficit on Friday against the Chicago Cubs to force extra innings. In the bottom of the 12th inning, Polanco had a chance to field a routine fly ball, with the bases loaded and one out.

According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, Whitley has been placed on the disabled list with a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his pitching elbow:

Once the tarp was on the field, it was showtime for this San Diego Padres groundskeeper.

The Padres suffered a rare home rain delay during Thursday night's game against the Washington Nationals. The game was less than an inning in when the skies opened and the rain came down, and knowing the crowd was anxious for a show, this groundskeeper decided he wasn't done working for the time being.

Atlanta Braves left-handed pitcher Mike Minor will reportedly miss the rest of the season after he undergoes shoulder surgery.
