Miguel Montero is on the move.

The Arizona Diamondbacks dealt the two-time All-Star catcher to the Chicago Cubs for two players confirms the team's Twitter account: 

The trade doesn't come as much of a surprise. It was no secret Arizona made the 31-year-old available to the highest bidder.

Trade talks and free-agent signings are at a fever pitch during this MLB offseason, and the hype for MLB 15 The Show is gaining serious steam as well. On Saturday, the debut sizzle trailer for the game was released at the PlayStation Experience in Las Vegas. 

Francisco Liriano declined the Pittsburgh Pirates' initial qualifying offer but was able to negotiate and secure a long-term deal to remain with the club on Tuesday.

A busy day in baseball saw another trade go down on Tuesday, as the Oakland Athletics shipped starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija to the Chicago White Sox for a number of prospects, including Chris Bassitt and Rangel Ravelo.

The Atlanta Braves' busy offseason continued Tuesday as they reached an agreement to sign infielder Alberto Callaspo to an undisclosed deal.

After being acquired by the Oakland Athletics last July, Jeff Samardzija is once again on the move. Oakland has reportedly dealt the right-hander to the Chicago White Sox. The Athletics announced the move on Tuesday:

Free agency couldn't have come at a worse time for Justin Masterson. The big right-hander had the worst year of his career in 2014 and was left off St. Louis' playoff roster after being traded from Cleveland in July. 

While that doesn't help Masterson's value this winter, it does make him appealing to teams unable or unwilling to dish out massive contracts to other pitchers on the market. Those suitors are starting to line up, based on recent news reports. 

The first day of the 2014 MLB winter meetings was relatively quiet, but with a decision looming from Jon Lester, things are set to explode in San Diego over the next three days.

Three significant moves did get done during the first day of the meetings, with a the groundwork laid for a fourth as Jeff Samardzija to the Chicago White Sox became official early Tuesday morning.

Expect plenty more action between now and things wrapping up on Thursday evening, as teams continue to rework their rosters for the upcoming season.
