David Wright's lost 2014 season has finally been put to an end. The New York Mets officially declared their All-Star third baseman out for the season Tuesday after a season-long battle with shoulder problems:

Wright, 31, was held out of Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Colorado Rockies and was sent to undergo further testing after feeling an increase in pain.

Miguel Cabrera Tosses 'Touchdown' Pass to Calvin Johnson at Detroit Tigers Game

Detroit Lions All-Pro wide receiver Calvin Johnson exploded for 164 yards and two touchdowns on Monday Night Football as the Lions routed the New York Giants, 35-14, in their first game of the 2014 season.

Johnson was in the house for the Detroit Tigers' Tuesday night showdown with the Kansas City Royals, and nine-time MLB All-Star Miguel Cabrera honored him in an appropriate wayby throwing him a lob of a "touchdown pass" into the stands.

Joe Torre Reportedly Clarifies MLB's New Home-Plate Collision Rules

Major League Baseball executive vice president Joe Torre reportedly issued a memorandum on Tuesday to provide clarity to the home-plate collision rules that have been implemented for the 2014 season.

In the second inning against the Houston Astros on Monday, the Seattle Mariners' Logan Morrison hit a ground-rule double. One lucky fan was able to snag the ball when it bounced into the stands. Once he had the ball, he gave it to the baby he was holding.

That's when the baby decided to see how the baseball tasted.

3 Los Angeles Dodgers Errors Result in 2 Runs for San Diego Padres

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Clayton Kershaw had a comfortable 8-1 lead heading into the sixth inning of Monday night's game against the San Diego Padres, but this sequence of plays made things a little closer than the NL Cy Young front-runner would have liked.

After a flyout to center field, the Dodgers committed three errors in one play to allow both Yangervis Solarte and Rymer Liriano to score, trimming the lead to just 8-3 for Los Angeles.
