New York Mets Pay for Their Old Mistakes, Send Bobby Bonilla His First Check

Yesterday, on July 1, Bobby Bonilla received a check in the mail from the New York Mets.

The payment was worth $1,193,248.

This is just the first of 25 checks that the 48-year-old Bonilla will receive from the team every year on July 1.

After being drafted in the first round (15th overall) by the Cleveland Indians in the 2009 June Amateur Draft, pitcher Alex White is set to make his debut on Saturday against the Detroit Tigers.

Derek Lowe Arrested Wednesday Night for DUI

Braves right-handed starter Derek Lowe was arrested under suspicion for driving under the influence Wednesday night. Lowe was stopped around 10p.m by State Patrol on Peachtree Road at Ronson Road in Atlanta. After smelling a strong alcoholic odor, the officer conducted a field sobriety test; Lowe however refused to take the state-administered alcohol test.

Texas Rangers Bullpen in Trouble; Neftali Feliz Goes on 15-Day DL

I called it at the beginning of the year. Neftali Feliz has yet to throw a pitch faster than 96. While that's still blistering heat, he is used to throwing 100-plus mph. He is in the low-90s consistently, which, for the Rookie of the Year and All-Star, is awful.

Today, the Texas Rangers put him on the 15-day DL.
