The Texas Rangers farm system got the power outfield bats it had lacked in the form of Nomar Mazara and Ronald Guzman. The Dominican outfielders signed with the Rangers Saturday on the opening day of the international signing period.

It's only six games into the season, but the Texas Rangers look like repeaters for at least the American League pennant. Part of the reason is that they are 6-0 over those games. The other reason is who they won the games against.

The Rangers started with a sweep of the Boston Red Sox, early favorites to win the American League East. A strong offense just blew apart the Red Sox rotation, with Ranger scores of 12, nine and five runs in three games.

Their drive to the Fall Classic was spurred by an MVP season from LF Josh Hamilton, a Rookie of the Year campaign from closer Neftali Feliz, and all-star efforts from five players.

Texas Rangers CEO and managing partner Chuck Greenberg was forced to resign his position in Arlington for the Texas Rangers.

As expected, Nolan Ryan wouldn’t say what really went on to cause the departure of Greenberg. However, we can all speculate.

During the 26-year career of Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan, he struck out 5,714 batters, a record likely to never be broken. Ryan also gave up a record 2,795 walks.

With the Rangers having questions in their starting rotation,  Neftali Feliz reportedly prefers the closer role.

One has to ask, why not?

The long wait is finally over. The Texas Rangers will finally be flying a pennant in their ballpark following their first ever American League title.

The Rangers fell short in the World Series against the San Francisco Giants, but that can’t dampen the enthusiasm following their sensational 2010 campaign, and most observers seem to feel they’re bound to be in the 2011 pennant mix as well.

I’m not so sure.

It is now time for spring training to get started. In Surprise, Arizona, the Texas Rangers are getting set to defend their American League championship.
