Houston Astros' 1st Round Draft Pick, Delino DeShields, Jr., Arrested in Georgia

It has been reported in various news sources that the 2010 Houston Astros first round draft pick, Delino DeShields Jr., was arrested in Athens, Georgia early Sunday morning and charged with driving under the influence, underage possession of alcohol, and an unspecified traffic violation.

MLB Buzz: Albert Pujols, Joba Chamberlain and the Latest MLB Buzz

With only a month or so until pitchers and catchers report to training camp, the final free agents are beginning to find homes at last. Jim Thome signed a deal with the Minnesota Twins, and Rafael Soriano has become the most expensive setup man of all time, hopefully.

I don't see why anyone would pay $11 million for a setup man, but nonetheless, his contract has been signed, and it's time to look at the future.

Joey Votto and the Reds have been back and forth about a possible contract negotiation. Has that happened now? Is anyone in the market for Bruce Chen?

Cincinnati Reds Sign Joey Votto to a Three-Year Deal

The Cincinnati Reds and Joey Votto have agreed to a three-year, $38 million contract. He can still become a free agent after the 2013 season is over.

Votto is the National League Most Valuable Player. In 2010, Votto hit .324/.424/.600 with 37 home runs and 113 RBI.

MLB Rumors: Albert Pujols Sets Deadline for New Deal Prior to Spring Training

Albert Pujols has told the St. Louis Cardinals he wants a new contract by the beginning of spring training, or he will sever negotiations and become a free agent in the fall, sources told ESPN the Magazine's Buster Olney.

The Cardinals exercised Pujols' option for next season in October, which will pay him $16 million. Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak refused to comment on the state of the negotiations Saturday.

Minnesota Twins Bring Back Jim Thome

When defining this offseason, I think we will define it as a player’s market. We have seen aces, pseudo aces, mediocre bullpen guys, and not quite superstars get paid like superstars.

It seems like everyone at every position has made out this offseason. Every position, that is, except DH.

With a renewed emphasis on speed and defense that has taken place over the past couple of seasons in baseball, DH’s are no longer getting the love they used to.

Philadelphia Phillies: Just 29 Days Till Pitchers and Catchers Report

Don’t despair Phillies fans. What has all of the makings of a long, frigid, snowy winter will soon be interrupted with this announcement: “Pitchers and catchers report today!”

MLB Hot Stove: St. Louis Cardinals Add Depth, Sign Ian Snell, Miguel Batista

An already deep Cardinals rotation added some surplus on Friday, inking Miguel Batista and Ian Snell to minor-league deals. The Post-Dispatch reports that Batista can become a free agent if he's not assured a spot on the big-league team by the final week of Spring Training, and that Snell has a similar option for June 1.

MLB Rumors: Joba Chamberlain, Johan Santana and Latest MLB Buzz

Spring training is getting closer. Top players have switched teams and fans patiently wait for America's favorite past time to get started.

There's a lot of buzz going on right now as some recent deals have occurred. Clubs are signing key players and some are losing them.

Let's take a look in to how these deals affect certain teams. As well as the latest rumors in the Major League Baseball world.

New York Mets Make Another Minor Signing: Team Signs Willie Harris

The Mets have made yet another small move: They have agreed to a minor league contract with Willie Harris.

In addition to this, he will be invited to spring training for a chance to make the major league team.

Harris has spent the last three years with the Washington Nationals. During that time period, he has made many great defensive plays in games against the Mets.

Jim Thome Signs One-Year Deal To Stay As Minnesota Twins' Designated Hitter

After much speculation on whether or not the Minnesota Twins would bring back designated hitter Jim Thome for a second season, it appears that a resolution has finally been reached.

ESPN.com's Buster Olney is reporting that the Twins and Thome have agreed to terms on a one-year deal worth $3 million.
