MLB Rumors: Are Adrian Beltre and Derrek Lee Ready To Cash In?

It has been an eventful 2010 off-season for Major League Baseball. Some of the league's biggest names have changed uniforms, most notably Cliff Lee (back to the Phillies), Carl Crawford (Red Sox), Adrian Gonzalez (Red Sox) and Jayson Werth (Nationals).

Of the remaining free agents, Adrian Beltre and Derek Lee seem to be the best position players still without a contract. Rumors are swirling all over the board as to the possible value of Beltre's contract, and where Derek Lee will choose to play ball for the 2011 season.

Takashi Saito Signed by Brewers as Milwaukee Adds a Piece to Its Pen

Veteran reliever Takashi Saito has agreed to a one-year deal with the Milwaukee Brewers, according to the team's spokesperson.

Saito will be 41 years old when next season arrives, which leaves fans wondering why any team would want to sign him.

It's because of the fact that he has been very effective and a reliable pitcher out of the bullpen. For example, last year with the Atlanta Braves, he posted an ERA of 2.83 in 54 innings.

MLB Free Agency: 10 Teams Who Should Take One Final Risk on Manny Ramirez

When you see a hitter hit long balls year after year after year, you tend to evaluate the hitter's value based only on his power numbers.

Based on Manny's injury-riddled 2010 season with only nine home runs and 42 RBI's, many have wondered if he has anything left in the tank. I think people may have overlooked his .298 batting average, which, to me, shows that he may not have his pop anymore, but he is still a very smart hitter. If he is placed in the proper position in the lineup as a DH, he will get on base and drive in runners.

Ricky Nolasco Officially Signs Long-Term Deal to Stay with Florida Marlins

The Florida Marlins have officially announced the signing of right-handed pitcher Ricky Nolasco to a three-year, $26.5 million contract extension.

The 28-year-old went 14-9 with a 4.51 ERA and missed the final month after undergoing arthroscopic right knee surgery when he tore his meniscus.

In the deal, Nolasco is expected to earn $6 million in 2011, $9 million in 2012 and $11.5 million in 2013, his would-be first year of free agency.

2011 MLB Preview: Barry Zito Is The X-Factor In The Giants-Phillies Pitching War

In 2010, the San Francisco Giants won the World Series with a top-of-the-line rotation featuring four great starting pitchers, including two-time Cy Young-winner "big time Timmy Jim" Lincecum and his 231 strikeouts.

Each member of the Giants fab four have an ERA in the threes with Lincecum and Sanchez recording over 200 strikeouts.

Madison Bumgarner has emerged as the Cole Hamels of their staff with a 3.00 ERA in 18 starts.

Tampa Bay Rays Should Use Six-Man Rotation In Order To Contend

The Tampa Bay Rays have shown that they don't have the cash to splash in the hot-stove season, which is why they were forced to let Carl Crawford sign a mega-deal with the Boston Red Sox, Carlos Pena sign $10 million single-year deal with the Chicago Cubs and trade Jason Bartlett to the San Diego Padres for next to nobody.

MLB Rumors: New York Yankees Interested In Johnny Damon Reunion

According to Newsday's Ken Davidoff, the Yankees are interested in bringing Johnny Damon back to the Bronx. The report states that the Yankees are intending on bringing back Damon to use as a fourth outfielder and occasional DH.

MLB Free Agency: Power Ranking the 10 Most Shocking Moves of the Offseason

A lot of people thought they had MLB free agency all figured out.

They're pretty much wrong.

A lot of players went on to sign with different teams. Teams who looked to be major players turned out not to be and small market teams who figured to be silent turn into major players and future contenders.

In honor of the surprising off season I bring you this brand new power ranking list.

Bill Hall Finds a Home With the Houston Astros

I think if you asked a bunch of Boston Red Sox fans who was the MVP of the team in 2010, some would say Adrian Beltre, some would say David Ortiz, and others would say

Andy Pettitte: Will The New York Yankees' Veteran Pitcher Hang Up The Cleats?

With the Yankees having missed out on ace pitchers Cliff Lee and Zack Greinke, they are now faced with more bad news.

Veteran lefty Andy Pettitte is leaning towards retirement, which will make the Yankee rotation thinner than it already is.

There are not many options left in free agency, so the Yankees might be forced to make the 38-year old Pettitte a big one-year contract.

Losing Pettitte would be devastating for the Yankees, who currently have Ivan Nova and Sergio Mitre at the back of the rotation.
