When you see a hitter hit long balls year after year after year, you tend to evaluate the hitter's value based only on his power numbers.

After firing his agent on Friday, 2009 Cy Young Award winner Zack Greinke has informed the Kansas City Royals that he wants to be traded, says Foxsports.com's Jon Paul Morosi.

Greinke has a no-trade provision that allows him to block deals to 15 teams. One of the teams is the Yankees, who have expressed interest in the pitcher.

It's been a disappointing offseason for the New York Yankees. Normally a lock to sign the best free agents available, the Yankees whiffed on Cliff Lee, despite having the larger offer. Reliever Kerry Wood then signed a one-year, $1.5 million deal with the Chicago Cubs, leaving a big hole in the Yankees' bullpen.

The reacquisition of Cliff Lee this week was the latest in a series of moves the Philadelphia Phillies have made this offseason that brought former players back to the fold.

Ryne Sandberg, Juan Samuel, and Mickey Morandini, all retired players, have returned after long absences from the team.

A baseball source close to ESPN has confirmed that Magglio Ordonez and the Detroit Tigers have reached an agreement to a one-year, $10 million contract.  

Back in October, Detroit declined Ordonez's $15 million option, but the team stated that they would want Magglio to return if he successfully recovered from a season-ending ankle injury that occurred in July of last year.

Baseball's offseason player movement is in full swing at the moment, albeit with a certain team from New York being much quieter than anyone expected. Today, word came out that the Blue Jays had joined in on the fun and signed a free agent.

For one day, Chicago Cubs GM Jim Hendry was the smartest man in baseball.

Major League Baseball lost one of its special people Wednesday night. 

Bob Feller lost his fight with Leukemia and has left the baseball world in mourning.  Feller was not only one of the all-time greatest pitchers, but a great man as well.
