According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, the Florida Marlins are hammering out a deal with lefty reliever Randy Choate

The 35-year-old left-hander pitched for the Tampa Bay Rays last season and had a 4.23 ERA and 1.30 WHIP in 44.2 innings. Used in smart matchup situations, he limited left-handed batters to a .202 batting average in 138 plate appearances.

Nick Swisher of the New York Yankees will wed his fiance Joanna Garcia this weekend in Palm Beach, Florida.

Swisher and Garcia have been engaged since May, and according to NYDailyNews.com, this will be quite a large wedding with about 375 guests.

Russell Martin To New York Yankees In Preparation Of Matching Boston Red Sox?

The New York Yankees have reportedly offered former Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Russell Martin a one-year contract, according to Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News.

Martin had an awful 2010 season, serving as one of the major disappointments for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Martin played in just 97 games, hitting .248 with five HR, 26 RBI and six SB.

Martin has declined over the past few seasons.

The most coveted prize of this year's free agent market has been linked to only a few teams, most notably the Texas Rangers—who he helped get to the World Series last season—and the New York Yankees.

Free Agents Miguel Olivo and Jack Cust to the Seattle Mariners

On December 8th the Seattle Mariners signed free-agent catcher Miguel Olivo to a two-year contract worth $7 million with a club option for a third year.  Just a few days prior to the agreement with Olivo, Seattle signed free-agent DH Jack Cust to a one-year $2.5 million deal.  Personally I am in favor of neither deal. 

New York Yankees Increase Offer to Cliff Lee with Seven-Year Deal

Just 24 hours ago, the Yankees made their first official offer to free agent pitcher Cliff Lee, a six-year deal worth about $140 million.

The Yankees have now come back the next day with a seven-year offer for Lee, according to Mark Feinsand and Bill Madden of the New York Daily News.

This offer is coming about 12 hours after the Red Sox signed Carl Crawford to a seven-year deal worth $142 million.

Crawford signed a seven-year, $142 million deal, a huge move for Boston who recently traded for first baseman Adrian Gonzalez.

Jon Heyman of SI.com is reporting that the New York Yankees have offered starter Cliff Lee a seven-year deal. The Yankees originally had a six-year deal worth roughly $140 million.
