MLB Draft 2016: Live Day 3 Results, Highlights and Reaction

Welcome to the third and final day of the 2016 MLB draft.

The first 10 rounds and 316 selections are in the books after a busy first two days, but there are still 30 rounds to go before this year's amateur draft officially concludes.

The action picks up once again Saturday at noon ET with Rounds 11-40, as hundreds more amateur players will hear their names called and see their pro careers begin.

MLB Draft 2016: Best Baseball Prospects Available After Day 2 Results

The main event of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft was Thursday's opening day, followed by eight rounds of picks Friday.

Everything will wrap up with Rounds 11 through 40 on Saturday. These selections won't get all the pomp and circumstance of players taken on Day 1, but they can serve as vital pieces of their teams' futures.

It takes a lot for a late-round selection to earn a shot in the big leagues, but there are plenty of success stories who have made their dreams a reality.

Hamilton Placed on 7-Day DL

Friday, June 10

The Reds announced Hamilton was placed on the seven-day concussion disabled list after leaving Wednesday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Preston Palmeiro, Son of Former MLB Star Rafael, Drafted by Orioles

The Baltimore Orioles selected Preston Palmeiro, the son of four-time MLB All-Star and 500-home run club member Rafael Palmeiro, in the seventh round of the MLB draft.   

Preston, 21, is a left-handed bat and right-handed glove who made a name for himself as a first baseman at North Carolina State.

Cavan Biggio, Son of Former MLB Star Craig, Drafted by Blue Jays

Cavan Biggio realized his dream of playing Major League Baseball after the Toronto Blue Jays drafted the Notre Dame star in the fifth round of the 2016 draft. 

Per Baseball America, Biggio is the son of Hall of Famer Craig Biggio and was selected 162nd overall. 

Biggio has played three seasons at Notre Dame and set career highs this year in batting average (.311) and on-base percentage (.473). 

Jimmy Rollins Designated for Assignment by White Sox: Latest Details, Reaction

The Chicago White Sox designated veteran shortstop Jimmy Rollins for assignment Friday and called up highly touted prospect Tim Anderson to fill the roster void. 

The White Sox announced the moves on their official Twitter feed.
