The Top 10 Rookie Seasons in Chicago Cubs History

With so much talk in Cubs' camp this spring training surrounding top prospect Starlin Castro, I decided to take a look back at so of the top rookie performances in team history.

I went back as far as 1947, which was the first year that the Rookie of the Year Award was handed out. I only looked at the stats that the player posted during their rookie season when ranking them.

Chicago Cubs: Aramis Ramirez and Ted Lilly Rehab and Other Cubs News

This article was originally published at TheDailyCub.com , my blog covering all things Chicago Cubs.

Sorry for the three-day delay with posts, there is just very little going on. With that in mind, I will try to squeeze out whatever stories are happening and give you some updates on the Cubs.

Here are a few stories that have happened over the past few days.

Aramis Ramirez returns to the diamond

Chicago Cubs' All-Decade Team

In the last ten years, Cubs fans have seen their share of disappointing seasons, bad trades, over-hyped prospects and greedy super stars.

No other franchise in the entire MLB has experienced more disappointment then Chicago, and here is a tribute to the best players that graciously took the blame.

102 years of painful seasons has made the Wrigley faithful the most loyal and passionate fans in all of sports, though times may seem tough.

Though thousands of players have set foot into the hallowed walls of Wrigley Field, these athletes have proven to be the best since the Y2K.

Chicago Cubs Shortstops Stepping Up Big

This article was originally published at TheDailyCub.com , my blog covering all things Chicago Cubs.

Although the 19-year-old prospect was sent to the minors yesterday, Starlin Castro has spent his Spring Training turning heads and creating quite a controversy as to whether or not the Cubs should give the young prospect a shot.

Chicago Cubs May Need To Expedite Changes if Team Struggles This Season

The Chicago Tribune's Paul Sullivan wrote an article about how the Cubs' roster may change if they don't win this year. While I usually find Sully's columns to be less than noteworthy, he has hit the nail on the head with this one.

Is Carlos Silva Turning His Career Around With the Cubs?

This article was originally published at TheDailyCub.com , my blog covering all things Chicago Cubs.

Yesterday, Cubs newly acquired pitcher Carlos Silva pitched in his third outing of Spring Training, and he continued his progression as he works on his retooled delivery. After a horrific start in his first Spring Training appearance, Silva has been doing better and better with each outing.

2010 Chicago Cubs Lineup Set

On the pre-game radio show before the Chicago Cubs' Tuesday Cactus League match-up with the Texas Rangers, manager Lou Piniella set forth his projected lineup for Opening Day 2010.

It included few surprises, but certainly answered some questions about how Piniella intends to build his offense this season, and about who has managed to impress him most during Spring Training.

Here is the lineup as Piniella recited it, along with a brief take on the player's spot in the order (does it make sense, how does it affect their projected stats, etc.) and the logic of the move for the team.

Chicago Cubs Position Breakdown: Outfield

This article was originally published at TheDailyCub.com , my blog that covers all things Chicago Cubs.

The Cubs' outfield has been extremely expensive over the past couple of years, and the team has failed to get its money’s worth as they sign free agent after free agent to big contracts without much, if any, improvement.

Fantasy Baseball 2010: Can Starlin Castro Make an Impact?

Despite the Cubs’ claims that top prospect Starlin Castro is destined to open the 2010 campaign in Triple-A, fantasy owners have to be taking close notice. He’s been absolutely raking in Spring Training and let’s be honest, it’s not like the Cubs are loaded up the middle.

The 20-year-old (he turns 20 on March 24) split 2009 between Single & Double-A, posting the following line:

Chicago Cubs: The 10 Worst Moments In Team History

There is no team in all of pro sports that shares the heart wrenchingly disappointing history that the Chicago Cubs possess. As everyone who has ever watched a baseball game is aware, the Cubs are 101 years removed from their last World Series title, and have not even played in the Fall Classic in 54 years.

What follows is my take on the ten worst moments in the history of the team that seems to be perennially "waiting til next year".
