White Sox 6, Cubs 0: It's a fine mess

Filed:June 28th, 2009

Well, it's official. The Cubs won't be getting the band back together, with the Cardinals instead acquiring ex-Cub Mark DeRosa in exchange for Chris Perez.

Ozzie Guillen: The Only Coach Who's Still a Kid

Every time I hear that Ozzie Guillen has said something, nothing seems to surprise me. His moments of childhood seem to be full to the brim, especially know as we still look back onto his Wrigley Field comments.

Ozzie is still a kid, and very probably will always be. His childhood-like mentality in the clubhouse has somehow worked though, he won the Chicago White Sox a championship in the 2006 season. They also made the playoffs last year, winning the AL Central division.

Dodgers-White Sox: Podsednik's Single in 13th Downs Blue Crew, 6-5

<!--StartFragment-->

Scott Podsednik lined a two-out single to center field to bring an end to a marathon 13-inning game on Thursday afternoon.

The Chicago White Sox (35-37) mounted threats more than once in the late innings, but Podsednik's single plated Gordon Beckham and finally gave them a 6-5 victory over the majors’ best team, the Los Angeles Dodgers (47-26).

The Crosstown Showdown: John Danks Outduels Ryan Dempster, Sox Win 4-1

The Chicago players say that they try to approach this series the same way that they would any other, and I'll try to do the same old White Sox recapping I've always done.

With that said, no one can deny the added feeling of fire in their bellies when they watch the White Sox and the Cubs go at it.

Perhaps John Danks is no different. Having been sub-par this season, at least as far as expectations were concerned, the southpaw came out to Wrigley Field sporting his A game, as did the rest of the Sox pitching.

White Sox Week In (P)Review: "It Doesn't Get Any Better Than This."

Last week (Sunday to Sunday), the Chicago White Sox went 4-5. They missed opportunities, failed to execute and threw away a chance to gain meaningful ground on the division-leading Tigers.

Then they went into Milwaukee and took two of three from the division-leading (albeit slumping) Brewers.

This week, that doesn't matter. The slate's clean, and the division race can take a backseat.

It's Crosstown Classic time.

  • My Two Cents: This seems like a classic, over-confident game&md

White Sox Hope Gordon Can Blast It Like Beckham

It’s only June 6, but it’s already been a big month for call ups for some of the game's top prospects.

Top prospects such as Andrew McCutchen, Tommy Hanson, and White Sox third baseman Gordon Beckham have gotten the call to the big club so far this month. Perhaps the most intriguing of those three is Beckham.

Let's Make a Deal: An Idea for White Sox GM Kenny Williams

A couple of weeks ago, Kenny Williams put together a package of four players that was acceptable to the San Diego Padres in exchange for ace starter Jake Peavy.

Peavy used his no-trade clause. The old, "I'm flattered, but not coming," routine.

Now in the last few days, reports out of Houston are that the Sox have had a scout following the Astros and watching their ace, Roy Oswalt, because of an interest in him joining Chicago's South Siders.
