The deal is expected to be completed as early as Saturday, with Jeter receiving in the $15 to $17 million range annually for a three-year deal with a fourth year option.

Imagining the Yankees without Derek Jeter can be compared to jumping out of a plane without the parachute—the two just don’t work without each other.

Jeter in another uniform could be considered adultery, it just wouldn’t look right.

A day after the New York Yankees re-signed Mariano Rivera to a two-year deal, the Yankees now are ready to reach a deal with the face of the franchise.

It is being reported that the Yankees captain and shortstop will re-sign with the only team he has ever known.

Jeter will re-sign with New York for three years anywhere between $45-51 million with a potential fourth year in place, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

It’s about time the two parties were able to come to some sort of agreement.

Finally, there is some good news regarding the contract negotiations of New York Yankees Captain Derek Jeter.

The New York Daily News claims that the Yankees and Jeter could have this contract signed by Saturday. Yes, tomorrow could put Yankee Universe at ease again if this becomes a fact.

Derek Jeter, Carl Crawford, Cliff Lee, and Jayson Werth have the Hot Stove burning up and the MLB landscape is bound to look different, with Jeter the only one likely to end up back with the same team.

Rumors are flying around like mosquitoes in the summer time. The non-stop talk about Jeter can also be related to mosquitoes because they both do one thing to people: annoy them.

Other than the back and forth bickering about Derek Jeter through media outlets, the New York Yankees had been fairly quiet this offseason. Sure, they have been talking with free agent right-hander Cliff Lee, but we all expected that.

Outside of those topics, the Yankees remained quiet, until now. The hot stove is official heating up in New York.

Derek Jeter, the captain of the New York Yankees, wants to stay in New York.

The ugly truth, though, is this is a business. It's a brutal business at times as we have seen with other players who have been committed to their teams. At some point, an organization must decide what is best for them.

Derek Jeter has been the face of the Yankees franchise for years now.  He is the captain of the Yankees and it would just seem plain weird with him in another jersey other than the pinstripes.

Although it may seem weird to picture that for some fans, it's quickly becoming a reality.

Here are a few reason why Derek Jeter will not be back with the Yankees next season.

For 15 years, Derek Jeter has worn the immortal pinstripes. In that time, he has made a name for himself, becoming the first Yankees captain since the retirement of Don Mattingly, bringing the world renowned New York Yankees five more titles and ultimately becoming the Yankees all-time hit leader and becoming 74 hits away from baseball immortality with 3,000 hits.

Please do not wake me; it is such a peaceful slumber.
