20 Pitchers That Define the Seattle Mariners

Pitchers and catchers have reported to Spring Training and opening day is just around the corner!

In Arizona, Felix Hernandez and Cliff Lee have the baseball world abuzz with anticipation of the impact they can make on the landscape of Seattle baseball.

Will they answer the call to arms with a team monopoly in the pursuit of the American League Cy Young Award?

Texas Rangers Sign Endy Chavez To Minor League Deal

I think it’s pretty safe to say that no matter what Endy Chavez accomplishes in the major leagues from here on out, he will always be remembered for one spectacular catch in Game 7 of the 2006 NLCS when he was with the New York Mets.

That catch, which robbed Scott Rolen of a home run, will be on MLB Network’s Prime Nine: Best Post Season Catches from now until that program goes off the air. It was that good.

Here is the catch from a fan’s prospective in case you want to see it again or missed it somehow the first time around:

Hot Commodity: Los Angeles Dodgers Interested in Jarrod Washburn

Looks like the apparent blunder of nixing a Washburn deal with the Minnesota Twins last year was not much of a mistake.

Ken Griffey Jr. Goes Deep As the Mariners Rally To Beat Arizona 4-3

In the first game I have attended since moving back to Seattle, the Mariners rallied from a three-run deficit to defeat the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-3.

Ken Griffey Jr. hit a two-run pinch hit homerun in eighth inning to tie the game and Rob Johnson had the go-ahead RBI as the Mariners earned a victory in their MLB-leading 27th one-run game.

The Diamondbacks drew first blood, scoring two runs in the third inning after a costly throwing error by Mariners SP Jarrod Washburn. A Miguel Montero solo homerun in the fourth inning gave the Diamondbacks an early 3-0 lead.

Farm Report: OF Greg Halman, Seattle Mariners

The Seattle Mariners No. 1 prospect for 2009, outfielder Greg Halman, is currently wit the class AA West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx.

Halman is the starting center fielder for West Tennessee. He's currently hitting .216 with 12 HR, 29 hits, 30 RBI, 2 SB and 57 SO in 134 at-bats this season.

Halman is one of the many power hitters in the Mariners farm system. The only problem with Halman is that he strikes out way to much and he's not patient.

Halman only has seven walks to his 57 strikeouts.
