Another day, another full slate of baseball. Game five of 162 in Fantasy Baseball Insiders’ summer-long journey featured Thursday’s matchup between the Dodgers and Pirates.

Game No. 5—Los Angeles Dodgers-Pittsburgh Pirates

Rafael Furcal and Matt Kemp had two hits and two runs on Thursday against the Pirates. Kemp also added two RBI.

We’re just three days removed from Opening Day, yet Fantasy Baseball Insiders have already scored four games as part of our journey to watch 162. Wednesday featured the Giants/Astros matchup in Houston.

Game No. 4 – San Francisco Giants vs. Houston Astros

On March 2, we released our 2010 starting pitching tier rankings.

In the five weeks in between, we’ve seen some surprisingly dominant performances and some lingering injury concerns, both of which have had an effect on our top 50 rankings for starting pitchers.

As part of our journey to watch and score 162 games this season, Tuesday night featured the Orioles/Rays opener in Tampa.

Game No. 3—Baltimore Orioles vs. Tampa Bay Rays

Adam Jones went 3-for-5 with a single, double, and HR.

Opening day and has come and gone, and while it’s clear guys like Jason Heyward will make a fantasy impact this season, it’s also important to keep an eye on the lesser-known sleeper candidates. With that in mind, I present to you the Fantasy Baseball Insiders’ 2010 All-Breakout Team!

Placido Polanco, Philadelphia Phillies
Polanco hit just 10 HRs last year, but started out with a bang going 3-for-4 with a grand slam and six RBI. Hitting between Jimmy Rollins and Chase Utley doesn’t hurt.

In case you missed the news, Monday night signaled the start of Fantasy Baseball Insiders’ journey to watch and score 162 games this season.

In addition to this, we’ll gather all of the fantasy-relevant info from every game each night and organize it in one post for your viewing pleasure. This will feature in-depth observations from our game of the day.

Baseball Professor is attempting to undertake a project of grand importance, one that will unify the fantasy baseball community while simultaneously providing thought-provoking discussion.

This project could only be called one thing – The Sunday Survey.

Although 2010’s official Opening Day isn’t until tomorrow, the Yankees/Red Sox Sunday night matchup marks the beginning of another baseball season.

For those of us who devote our entire summer to fantasy baseball, tonight signals the start of a six-month journey that requires a daily grind; constantly setting lineups, adding free agents and proposing trades, not to mention watching the games.

Warning: You're about to get roughly 1,000 words detailing another person's fantasy draft. If that sort of thing doesn't appeal to you, then I completely understand. Live Drafts are usually incredibly boring, especially after the first five rounds, which is why I have chosen to go another direction in this column.
