MLB Draft

MLB Draft

Bryce Harper, Zach Lee and the MLB Draft Deals That Beat the Deadline

The MLB Draft signing deadline day had more close calls than any game.

Entering Monday, 17 first-round picks remained unsigned, and the teams had just 24 hours to agree to terms with these future stars.

Most negotiations came down to the wire, as 13 players had yet to sign contracts a mere 30 minutes before the midnight deadline.

When the clock struck 12, 10 teams had their picks signed, sealed, and delivered.

But for three teams, their Cinderella stories never happened.

Do MLB Agents Do More Harm Than Good for Rookies?

I grew up watching many sports. I always thought it would be incredible to play for a team, preferably a Toronto team. When I remember what I used to dream of, I wonder now whether the players have forgotten those dreams.

Many rookies in baseball hold out for money. They want lots of money now. That is all fine and dandy for them, and I applaud the agents for trying to get the best deal available, but hasn't it gone a little too far?

Stephen Strasburg Calls Out Bryce Harper, But Don't Worry — He Will Sign

Nothing to worry about Washington Nationals fans, this will get done, although it may come down to the deadline before it is announced.

The posturing that is going on between the overall No. 1 pick in MLB's first year player draft and the team that picked him is simply normal negotiation ploys by both sides. Believe me, the kid will sign when all is said and done.

2011 MLB Draft: Updates on the Projected Top Picks

The Major League Baseball draft is well on its way to becoming similar to the NFL draft. There is no off-season.

And in the case of most of these players, that's the actual truth.

Is Brandon Belt The Next Buster Posey?

Brandon Belt has been on the radar of die-hard San Francisco Giants fans since the start of the season when he established himself, at least statistically, as the best hitter in the entire organization.

What's hard to believe is that the guy can sustain his amazing performance because it just is never done much past high school and to a lesser extent college.

MLB Teams Should be Able to Trade Draft Picks

Here’s an article from mlbtraderumors.com which states that the MLB Players’ Association is not opposed to the idea of allowing teams to trade draft picks.  Neither am I.

2011 MLB Mock Draft 2.0...High Schoolers Included!!

Don't let the ridiculous pants fool you...

Left-hander Daniel Norris has some serious skill and is starting to gain some helium with his sights set on being a top-five pick in next year's MLB draft.

You can check out my high-school-less mock draft, but this is the new and improved draft, complete with all the prep studs who have thrust themselves onto the big stage.

You'll also notice I've added some player comps. These aren't necessarily who each player should turn into, but they are models of who the prospects are most similar to in terms of size, tools, and personality.
