2010 MLB Draft Results: Arizona Diamondbacks Stock Up On Pitching

In 2010, the Arizona Diamondbacks are 3-28 when scoring four or less runs.

Without much further investigation, it was safe to say that Arizona needed to pick up some additional help on the mound (no, Dontrelle Willis is not going to cut it).

And that's just what General Manager Josh Byrnes did.

His first eight, I repeat eight , picks at this year's draft were pitchers.

"We are extremely excited about the quality of arms we were able to select throughout the draft," D-Backs' Scouting Director Tom Allison told foxsportsarizona.com.

Is It Too Late for a Run: Where Have These Houston Astros Been All Year?

The Houston Astros have finally begun winning ball games fairly consistently.

My only question is: Where were these Astros at the start of the season?

Carlos Lee jacked a grand slam in the top of the 10th inning on Wednesday night in Colorado, as Houston came back from an early deficit and the Astros topped the Rockies, 6-2, in wild fashion.

And it’s about damn time.

Just moments after Houston made their final selections in the 2010 First-Year Player Draft, it finally appears as though the Astros are beginning to get things going this season.

2010 MLB Draft Rewind: Breaking Down Positions Houston Astros Addressed Most

Major League Baseball’s 2010 First-Year Player Draft began with a bang on Monday evening.

For round one coverage, fans around the globe tuned in to see who their team chose once the clock stopped ticking, and commissioner Bud Selig stepped to the podium to make the announcement.

Three days and 50 rounds later, the Houston Astros made their final selections in this year’s draft on Wednesday.

And for those who missed it, here’s exactly how everything played out over the three days as the team selected a plethora of picks…

For the Houston Astros, the third day of Major League Baseball’s 2010 First-Year Player Draft began around noon ET on Wednesday, June 9 (with a plethora of picks from rounds 31-50), before finally concluding around 5 p.m. ET.

So how did Houston score in the last day of the draft?

Overall, I’d give them an A for day three.

2010 MLB Draft Results: Twins Bolster Minor League System

Originally published at TwinsMVB.com .

The Twins certainly didn’t stray from their organizational philosophy in this most recent MLB Draft. Holding the twenty-first overall selection in the Rule 4 Draft, Minnesota made several selections of players that fill a mold that Twins’ fans have grown familiar with. Here is a brief run-down of Minnesota’s first three picks.

2010 MLB Draft Recap: Atlanta Braves Top Picks, Thoughts

Although the MLB Draft is still going on (rounds 31-50 are tomorrow) I decided to get the draft recap done as players picked lower than 30th rarely end up signing. If the Braves add anyone who I could see making an impact, I will be sure to add them to the list.

First, here is a quick breakdown of what the Braves drafted, going by their listing on MLB.com.

Pitchers: 12

Catchers: 3

Corner Infield: 4

For the Houston Astros, day two of Major League Baseball’s 2010 First-Year Player Draft began with selections No. 58 and No. 90 (before a plethora of picks in rounds 4-30) shortly after noon ET on Tuesday, June 8.

So how did Houston score in the second day of the draft?

Let’s begin by taking a look at their first few choices (rounds two, three, and four) and what the future may hold for those players.

Overall, I’d give the Astros a B for their picks in day two of the MLB Draft.
