We're only a few days removed from the conclusion of the 2014 draft, but it's never too early to start looking ahead at what next year's class has to offer.

Accurately predicting a draft in any sport for any team is difficult, but when it comes to the San Francisco Giants in the 2014 MLB draft, the task becomes even more challenging.

With just a few days remaining until the 2014 MLB draft officially gets underway on Thursday night, the debate over nearly ever selection in the first round is on.

The 2014 MLB draft is almost here, and while players will emerge from the later rounds, all eyes will be on which players will go where in the first round.

This year's draft begins on Thursday with the first three rounds. For the third straight year, the Houston Astros will have the No. 1 overall pick, and they'll have to decide between a number of exciting pitchers or a couple of positional players.

Major League Baseball will welcome a plethora of future superstars to the mix this coming weekend at the 2014 MLB draft, officially known as the first-year player draft. 

All 30 clubs will choose from the top eligible high school and college stars in an effort to build for the future and ultimately contend for a World Series title in the coming years.

Ever since the Moneyball craze hit movie theaters nationwide, there has been a bit more emphasis placed on the MLB draft.

After all, if a team with limited resources like the Oakland Athletics could challenge the big, bad New York Yankees largely by building through the draft, who’s to say every major league squad couldn’t do the same.

Entering the latter stages of their rebuilding program, the New York Mets have a crucial amateur draft coming up in June.

Over the recent years, the Mets have drafted very young players with an emphasis on tools rather than filling needs. With a much deeper farm system than just a half-decade ago, the Mets could potentially alter this strategy for 2014.

Everyone has an idea of what they want to happen when their team makes a selection in the Major League Baseball draft. Some fans are looking for a quick fix, while others are happy to preach patience in hopes of landing a superstar talent that will need time to develop. 

The 2014 MLB draft class has a little something for everyone, though it's become abundantly clear as the spring has gone on that the strength of this group is on the mound. Much like what you see from all 30 teams each night, offense is hard to come by. 

With the 2014 MLB draft less than three weeks away, it's time to take a look at who the San Francisco Giants should target and which players could end up in the team's farm system by season's end.

Thanks to the Giants' 76-86 record last season, they'll pick 14th in the draft, which gives them an excellent shot at cashing in on the abundance of pitching talent available early in the draft.

The Atlanta Braves will look to bolster their farm system and find future help at the MLB level in a few weeks when the 2014 MLB draft gets underway.

The Braves could go a number of different directions with the No. 32 overall pick in the compensation round acquired from the Brian McCann deal.
