“There is a Chance” A-Rod Plays This Week

According to George King of the NY Post, Yankees manager Joe Girardi said, “there is a chance,” that Alex Rodriguez plays in a minor league rehab game as soon as this week.

Alex Rodriguez will go through his third baserunning session today in Tampa and usually that is enough for a player to make the next step in the rehab process: Minor league games.

Joe Girardi: Should the Underachieving Yankees' Skipper Be Replaced?

The New York Yankees have struggled to a .500 record after three weeks of the young baseball season.

It seems as though matters are worse than their record would indicate.

In three of the games, the Yankees have truly been embarrassed.

In Tampa, the Yankees were beaten 15-5 by the Rays.

At home against Cleveland, starter Chien Ming-Wang was abused for the three straight start and the Indians clobbered New York 22-4.

Good, Bad, and Ugly: Washington Nationals Weekend Roundup

NATIONALS' CATCHER JESUS FLORES HOMERS TWICE OVER THE WEEKEND AGAINST  THE METS
In their first trip to CitiField against the New York Mets, the Washington Nationals fell Friday, 4-3, and Saturday, 8-2, and won 8-1 behind Jordan Zimmermann, Jesus Flores, and Austin Kearns on Sunday.
FRIDAY:  Johan Santana dominated the Nats once again, allowing one run on six hits and one walk, striking out 10 in six innings.

Can the Yankees Be Cured?

This past weekend was an extremely bad one for Yankees fans.  Many fans are now suffering from sweepitis, a debilitating disease brought on by getting owned by the Red Sox for three straight games.

Symptoms include

  • Wanting Joba to go back to the bullpen.
  • Continuously seeing images of Jacoby Ellsbury stealing home.
  • Wanting to shave Kevin Youkilis' beard.
  • Wondering why CC and AJ are getting paid so much.
  • Wondering who Angel Berroa is.
  • Actually missing A-Rod.

How Long Can the Yankees Continue to Experiment With Brett Gardner?

Brett Gardner was chosen to start in centerfield for the New York Yankees coming out of Spring Training.

The team now has 18 games under its belt and the record is 9-9. That record coming off an embarrassing sweep by their arch rivals, the Boston Red Sox, in Fenway over the weekend.

There are many problems with the New York team right now.

The biggest problem has been pitching. It has been very, very bad.

Having Alex Rodriquez on the disabled list has created problems on offense and defense.

New England Sports: Thrilling Weekend

In a weekend packed with excitement and thrills for New England sports, Jacoby Ellsbury made one play that supplanted the rest as the most memorable.

There are several things that can be highlighted about the Boston Red Sox’s three-game sweep of the New York Yankees in the first meeting of the season between the two teams. The finale alone is full of notables and things to mention.

Around the Majors, April 26: Shane Victorino, Jordan Zimmermann Break Out

Let's take a look at some of the big stories from yesterday's games, like Andy Sonnanstine's struggles, Shane Victorino's recent breakout, and Jordan Zimmermann's impressive start to his career.

Minnesota vs. Cleveland

Last January, I wrote …

Often times the JoeSportsFan inbox receives press releases announcing “big things” in the world of sports and corporate America. The announcement for Oreo’s “Ultimate Sibling Rivalry” is one such example, and while the commercial aired 10 days ago, it’s worth revisiting for a couple of reasons.

It's a tough economy out there. We all know that by now.
