Albert Pujols Becoming "Perfect Player", But There Are Still Holes To Fill

As Cardinal fans, we've seen Albert Pujols for the last eight-plus years.  We've seen him do astounding things at the plate, whether it's walk-off shots or multi-homer games.

Kurt Suzuki: A Young Catcher on the Rise, but Now Declining Very Quickly

The Oakland Athletics have a young catcher by the name of Kurt Suzuki who is coming into this second full season as a starting catcher in the major leagues. He had the experience to take the starting job away from Jason Kendall in 2007 and played in 68 games.

Part of that 2007 season was spent learning from Kendall—meaning that Suzuki had a chance to learn the techniques that would make him a solid catcher in the big leagues. On the plus side, the A's were looking for a catcher who could also give them something more offensively.

Around the Majors, April 24: Zack Greinke, Erik Bedard Continue Strong Starts

Zack Greinke continues to impress.  Erik Bedard continues to look like his old self.  Edinson Volquez and Joba Chamberlain both had some struggles.  Let’s take a look at these performances and all the rest from yesterday’s games.

White Sox Rotation Woes: What To Do with Jose Contreras and Bartolo Colon?

After a heavy loss to Baltimore at Camden Park, the White Sox return to Chicago, licking their rotation wounds.

The top three guys are off to a superb start, Mark Buehrle looks as good as ever, starting the year 2-0 with an ERA of 3.00 in three starts, John Danks is lights-out at 2-0 with a 0.95 ERA and Gavin Floyd is looking solid at 2-1 4.74 ERA.

JC's Dodger Line Drives | April 21-23: Houston Has Caused Us a Problem

The Los Angeles Dodgers flew down to Houston riding high after sweeping their opening homestand against the Giants and Rockies, and having won a total of eight straight games. The Astros help bring them back to Earth taking the first two games of the series before the pitching of Chad Billingsley (pictured above) prevented a sweep in the final game.

Manny Ramirez continued his torrid batting, going 5-for-12 with five RBI. It wasn't enough however, as the Dodgers struggled to deliver in the clutch, a measly combined 3-for-29 with runners in scoring position.

Rockies Looking for a Well-Rounded Game

The Colorado Rockies finally got home after a miserable 10-day, eight-game road trip in which the team only won two games.

They have been home for only four days since the beginning of Spring Training on Feb. 14.

Pujols, Cardinals Steal One from Cubs

ST. LOUIS – As evenly matched as the Cardinals and Cubs appear to be so far this season, each game between the two is all the more crucial and key in either team’s bid for a National League Central Division title.

It was hardly surprising that Friday’s series opener in St. Louis came down to a key hit and a bit of aggressive base running.

Toronto Blue Jays Continue to Win

Blue Jays fans received bad news on Thursday when Toronto placed rookie starter Ricky Romero (right oblique) and closer B.J. Ryan (left trapezius) on the 15-day disabled list.

Romero has looked great so far this season, going 2-0 with a 1.71 ERA in three starts. The struggling Ryan has a pair of saves, but has also blown two other save opportunities, and owns an 11.12 ERA.
