New York Mets' Bullpen Is a Bigger Question Mark Than Starting Rotation in 2011

As the offseason continues, the Mets continue to make little noise. They've made some quiet moves—some quality, some questionable.

However, it would take some big changes to actually improve the team for 2011 because they've lost more than they've gained.

Johan Santana will be out recovering from shoulder surgery until at least the All-Star break, leaving the Mets' starting rotation in a state of flux.

Fantasy Baseball Sleepers: Undervalued Players That Lead Fantasy Championships

Any average fantasy player can rattle off the names of the top-tier first rounder picks.  But you didn’t come to this site to be an average fantasy player.  It’s the later round sleepers that can push your team from average to championship caliber.  Without further delay, here is an early list of sleepers that could make your 2011 Fantasy Baseball season a memorable one.

Johan Santana, Jason Bay and 10 New York Mets to Worry About in 2011

Which New York Mets players pose some questions and concerns for the upcoming and debut season for GM Sandy Alderson and Manager Terry Collins?

The first concerns are the unknowns.

Will starting and bullpen pitching be acquired?

Will our farm system be raided to acquire talent just to be in the middle of the pack?

Daniel Murphy's Role on the 2011 New York Mets

Daniel Murphy is in a state of flux within the Mets organization.  Murphy was once a man poised to be the starting first baseman with the departure of Carlos Delgado and solid 2008 and 2009 season, which averaged out as 11 home runs, 64 runs batted in, a .275 batting average and a .331 on-base percentage over 162 games.

New York Mets: Shaping Their 2011 Bench

With the acquisition of Chin-lung Hu, let's take a look at some bench options this year for the Mets.

Strong depth is always an important factor for success. Just look at the World Series champion San Francisco Giants.

Usually, National League teams carry 12 pitchers, so that leaves 13 spots for position players. Eight of those will be starters, so the Mets have to construct a bench made up of five players.

Hu's At Second? New York Mets Acquire Chin-Lung Hu from LA Dodgers

Consistent with the moves that the Mets have made this season, they have acquired shortstop Chin-Lung Hu from the Dodgers for lefty Michael Antonini.

This is a move that will likely have little impact on the Mets next year. Hu will most likely serve as a back up to Jose Reyes. Hu also has limited experience at second base (38 games), but he may be in the competition for the starting job.

New York Mets' Fifth Starter: Who Will It Be?

So far this off-season the Mets have been somewhat quiet only bringing in Boof Bonser, Ronny Paulino and D.J. Carrasco.  Bonser can be a solid spot-starter for the Mets while Paulino will be a nice addition to have behind the plate to backup Josh Thole.  Carrasco is who I feel to be the Mets' best pickup so far.  Carrasco will be a great addition to a bullpen that has lost the likes of Pedro Feliciano.

MLB Power Rankings: 10 Hot-Hitting Prospects Who Could Be Next Buster Posey

Every team is looking for the next breakout prospect that can join the team in the middle of the year and provide a spark to their lineup. Fantasy owners also look for these prospects who can lead their team to a championship.

Looking at this year's prospects, there appear to be a few players who can follow in the footsteps of Buster Posey and have an immediate impact for their Major League club.

Mets' Stormy Skies: 9 Players New York Absolutely Needs To Replace for 2011

It's always sunny in Philadelphia recently, but the prediction in New York is stormy weather for the foreseeable future. There are a lot of holes in the Mets organization, and the fans are sick of being rained on, over and over again. New York Mets Bullpen Uncertainty: Sean Green To Brewers, Mets Eyeing Joe Beimel

After the New York Mets non-tendered Sean Green earlier this month, it was only a matter of time before a team gobbled him up for the potential ‘relief’ he could offer.

The time has come, and that team is the Milwaukee Brewers, who are looking to reload this off season to have a productive 2011.
