I noticed something peculiar about Albert Pujols' approach at the plate during an at bat last night in Arizona.  He picked up and put back down his normally semi-stationary left leg as the pitch came in.

If Nick Masset is doing nothing else, he is keeping writers and fans off the back of Coco Cordero.

Last season, I usually became sick in the ninth inning when I saw the wild bull come in from the bullpen. It seemed (although it really wasn’t) as though every time he entered the game he either blew a save or came so close I put a curse on him.

Tonight, Chris Heisey continued the trend of making the most of every opportunity.  Something he has done since getting called up last year.

Heisey pinched hit in the ninth inning, hit a ball that bounced just past second base into center field to get an RBI and expanded the Reds lead over the Diamondbacks.  Not to mention, that was only his 11th at bat and fifth RBI this season.

The Brewers just finished up their first of three games in a weekend series against the rival Chicago Cubs at Miller Park. Let me say that the game was not played crisply by either club. The 7-4 loss dropped the Brewers' record to 3-5 on the season.

The Cincinnati Reds opened the 2011 regular season right on the border of familiar territory and unfamiliar territory.

The unfamiliar part is that they opened the season as the defending NL Central champions. The familiar part was that they weren't the favorites to win the division. In fact, the team that they opened the season against were the favorites to win with their power lineup and their revamped starting rotation.

After four games, the Brewers were 0-4 and struggling to get anything going. They lost a heart-breaker to the Reds on Opening Day after blowing a 6-2 lead, then lost the other two games 4-2 and 12-3. Then their home-opener came and the Brewers had a 1-0 lead until the eighth inning, when Martin Prado and Dan Uggla hit solo home runs to win the game for the Braves.
