Lou Piniella led the Cincinnati Reds to glory in 1990 as the manager during the team’s last World Series championship. The franchise is reportedly bringing him back in 2016, albeit in a different fashion.

The weekend-long Cubs Convention wouldn't start until Friday, but Chicago Cubs fans were already on high alert at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Chicago on Tuesday night.

Hamilton On Track for Spring Training

Hamilton updated Mark Sheldon of MLB.com on the progress of his right shoulder, which he had surgically repaired during the offseason.

The Milwaukee Brewers bolstered their outfield depth Thursday via a trade.

The team announced on Twitter it acquired outfielder Rymer Liriano from the San Diego Padres in exchange for minor league pitcher Trevor Seidenberger. The Brewers designated outfielder Shane Peterson for assignment as well.

Word is Jonathan Lucroy would welcome a trade to a team that has eyes on winning. All he needs now is a team that's willing to bet he can be a star catcher again, which is hardly the craziest notion.

Not sure if you heard, St. Louis Cardinals fans, but Jason Heyward skipped town. Worse still, he's a Chicago Cub now.

OK, sorry. Our purpose here isn't to rub salt in that particular, still-festering wound. Quite the contrary, actually—we come bearing glad tidings for the Redbird faithful. 

Cincinnati Reds legend Pete Rose will be inducted into the team's Hall of Fame this summer. 

The Reds announced his selection Tuesday. The event is scheduled to take place June 24-26.

Jonathan Lucroy has long been linked to trade rumors this offseason, but actual discussions for the Milwaukee Brewers All-Star catcher have furthered among interested suitors.

Ryne Sandberg is reportedly returning to the Chicago Cubs in 2016 to serve as a special ambassador, according to Bruce Levine of 670 The Score.   

The 56-year-old Sandberg played 15 seasons for the Cubs from 1982-97 and was voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2005.
