Jenrry Mejia To Start For New York Mets: It's Late, But It's the Right Move

Finally. It is about time that the Mets' front office did something right this season.

After inexplicably having Jenrry Mejia start the season on the Mets' major league roster as a reliever, the situation has finally been fixed. Mejia is a starter, and he will be able to help the Mets in the future in that capacity.

Is Josh Thole a Usable Catcher for Fantasy Baseball Owners?

When the Mets let Rod Barajas move across the country to Los Angeles, they effectively handed the everyday job to Josh Thole, the team’s top catching prospect.

The final few weeks of the season will operate as a test of sorts.  The Mets need to determine if Thole has what it takes to handle the everyday job in 2011 or if they need to shop in free agency again.

Nyjer Morgan Doesn't Deserve an Eight Game Suspension, Sorry

Nyjer Morgan's latest suspension for charging Marlins P Chris Volstad for throwing behind him drew a ludicrous eight game suspension from Bud Selig, in addition to his previous seven game suspension currently under appeal.

Volstad allegedly threw behind Morgan in retaliation for a heinous crime: Stealing two bases in a row when his team was down by 10 runs.

Oh no. He's lucky he doesn't get suspended for that, too.

NL East: After Win, Phillies One Game Back of First Place Braves

What else is there to say about the starting pitching and, more specifically, Cole Hamels?

The guy has been lights out for most of the season, and appears to be more focused than he's ever been during his time in Philly. The immature side-issues seem all but gone, he appears to have grown up, and he seems to really be hitting his stride as a consistent pitcher.

New York Mets Should Bring On Wally Backman

To me, the Mets being irrelevant in August is no laughing matter. Being an afterthought while the Yankees are thriving across town isn't a joke. Being laughed at by Phillies fans instead of respected and hated isn't a knee slapping good time for me, or any Mets fan that I know who cares about the team.

R.A. Dickey Snake-Bitten by a Pair of 3-Run Homers

Even when the Mets’ bats finally wake up, they still lose. This afternoon against the Cubs, the team scored six runs, something they hadn’t done since August 24, but still could not earn the victory.

The Mets jumped out to an early lead with a David Wright two RBI double in the top of the first off Randy Wells. They added another run on a botched double play off the bat of Joaquin Arias to take a 3-0 lead.

Florida Marlins Say Altercation With Washington Never Happened (Satire)

The Florida Marlins have publicly stated that whatever media sources are reporting a brawl during their game last night are false. Major League Baseball says that since there were no fans at the Marlins game last night, there are no witnesses to prove otherwise.

The Marlins have become synonymous with having a very low attendance average. On television, there are not any fans in the seats and thus a ton of orange seats are left exposed to the cameras. Last night was no exception.

Washington Nationals’ Nyjer Morgan Draws Eight Game Suspension

MLB handed out suspensions today following Wednesday’s brawl between the Florida Marlins and Washington Nationals.  Nyjer Morgan received eight games (in addition to the seven game suspension he has been appealing for hitting a fan in the head with a ball he threw into the stands on August 21); Chris Volstad received six games; Marlins’ pitcher Alex Sanabia received five games, Gaby Sanchez and Nationals’ pitcher Doug Slaten and 3B coach Pat Listach each received three games, and managers Jim Riggleman and Edwin R

Washington Nationals OF Nyjer Morgan Doesn't Understand Why He's Suspended

Why Nyjer Morgan-Style Base-Brawls Are Good for Major League Baseball

I live in South Florida, and right now I am not in baseball mode. My attention has shifted to other teams in the area.

However, something happened recently that brought my attention back to Major League Baseball:

The bench-clearing brawl between the Marlins and the Nationals.
