Why Marlins' Josh Johnson Is Better Than Rockies' Ubaldo Jimenez

Ubaldo Jimenez has been absolutely filthy through 16 starts this season, going 14-1 with a Bob Gibson-like 1.83 ERA. The 26-year-old flame thrower even tossed a no-hitter back on April 17 .

Trading Carlos Beltran: Not as Crazy as it Sounds

So far this season, the Mets have played 75 games. They are currently .5 games out of first place. The Mets have been able be competitive despite that fact that they have had Carlos Beltran, a perennial All-Star, play exactly 0 games for them.

When Beltran does return to the Mets, he will be a major asset. There is no way to deny that. Despite playing only half a season last year, Beltran was able to bat .325 with 10 home runs and 48 RBI. That production would be very helpful for the Mets.

According to the NewYorkMets post on Twitter at: https://twitter.com/NewYorkMets/status/17272109005 , the Mets will begin the series against the Florida Marlins in Puerto Rico with the following lineup:

1. Jose Reyes —SS  Reyes has really become hot and is the Reyes we all know and are glad to have on the Mets.

New York Mets TWITTER: Puerto Rico Homecoming

According to the New York Mets post on Twitter here: https://twitter.com/NewYorkMets/status/17271561579, the Mets have four players who are returning to their home country of Puerto Rico this week.

Those four players are Alex Cora, Angel Pagan, Pedro Feliciano and Jesus Feliciano. It should be interesting to see how much playing time those four get in this series against the Florida Marlins.

Philadelphia Phillies' Offense Finally Backs Roy Halladay in Win

As great as it was to see Roy Halladay beat his former team, the Toronto Blue Jays, for his ninth win of the season, it was even better to see the offense put up nine runs and finally give Halladay the run support he deserves—even if he didn't actually need it.

Mets Win 5-2 Starting Series On "Wright" Note

According to the New York Mets twitter post , the Mets have won their opening game in their last seven straight series. Teams beaten include: the Twins, the Tigers, the Yankees, the Orioles, the Indians, the Marlins, and the Padres (four of these seven were at home).

Three Home Runs in One Game—Fun Facts

In keeping with today’s theme inspired by Dustin Pedroia’s three home run game against the Rockies, here is a list of every player to have hit three or more home runs in a major league game .

You will note that three home run games have been particularly common in the last 20 years, when the PED-fueled offensive barrage reached its peak.

Carlos Beltran Plays His First Rehab Game

Carlos Beltran played his first minor league rehab game for Class A Port St. Lucie today.

Beltran was able to play five innings in center field; he went 0-for-2 with a walk.

While this is certainly not the performance that the Mets front office was hoping for, it is a good sign.

Beltran appears to feel comfortable playing in a baseball game again.

Tomorrow will be an important day for Beltran. Playing back-to-back games is a big step for him.

Hopefully, he will be able to play at least seven innings this time.

Why R.A. Dickey Should Be an All-Star for the New York Mets

Robert Allen Dickey. The man. The myth. The legend. The knuckleballer. The All-Star? Cy Young Award winner?! MVP?!? Hall of Famer?!?!

I may be getting a bit carried away there at the end, but no one can argue that Dickey has been anything but amazing for the Mets in his seven starts since filling in due to injuries.

Five Reasons Why the New York Mets Will Win the NL East

To say it’s been a roller-coaster season for the fellas from Flushing would be an understatement.

Jerry Manuel’s firing appeared to be a sure thing six weeks ago.
