Uggla and Damon Are NOT the Answers to the Giants Playoff Hopes

Dan Uggla and Johnny Damon .

They do not make sense in Black and Orange, right?

Colorado Rockies Winter Meetings in Review

I was asked by Will from TheNatsBlog.com to help him with a collaborative article on grading how well each team did in last week's winter meetings. Obviously, for my part I will be covering the Rockies.

Nick Johnson Won't Be THE Cure for San Francisco, but He Could Be Part of One

The San Francisco Giants, like most teams, won't find the answer to all their 2009 problems via the free agent waters. There are no magic bullets available this year—even the biggest catches aren't panaceas.

Matt Holliday and Jason Bay are wonderful Major League Baseball players, but neither is capable of singlehandedly turning around an anemic offense.

Bay was arguably surrounded by more hitting talent during his days in Pittsburgh than would accompany him in 2010 under the fog, and we all saw how ferocious those clubs were.

MLB Free Agent Market Might Force the San Francisco Giants' Hand (Yikes)

With Christmas about a week away and Major League Baseball's winter meetings in the rearview mirror, it's a perfect time to see what juicy acquisitions might be possible for your favorite baseball team.

For the San Francisco Giants, that means offense, offense, and more offense.

Preferably a corner infielder, corner outfielder, and/or a catcher to replace the outgoing Bengie Molina.

San Diego Padres: Trade To Send Adrian Gonzalez to Boston Going Nowhere

There was no question that interest in first baseman Adrian Gonzalez would come from all different sides, but there was a question about whether the Padres would or could trade him.

Seattle Mariners: Release Of LF Ryan Langerhans Precursor To A Pending Deal?

It's not like we are heartbroken to see him go, but the Mariners made Ryan Langerhans a Free Agent and will not be retaining his services.

Despite his pedestrian offense and mediocre defense, Langerhans did churn out two walk off wins for the Mariners with his bat.

His essential release creates an opening on the 40 man roster, a spot that is more then likely going to be filled by a Free Agent.

San Francisco Giants Have Great Pitching, Bad Timing

The 2009 Winter Meetings have concluded, and the San Francisco Giants came away looking like they did little, but probably did plant the seeds for a deal or two to take place.

Rumors continue to persist that the Giants are still talking with the Florida Marlins regarding Dan Uggla in exchange for TBD Giants' players. Also, reports that Giants have offers before Mark DeRosa and maybe Nick Johnson and LaRoche, as possible Giants' first baseman.

Final Thoughts on the MLB Winter Meetings

After a full week of reporting the happenings of Major League Baseball’s Winter Meetings, I resolve to finally put this subject to bed. But before I do, I wanted to add a few final thoughts from this year’s meetings.

With the exception of ”The Trade,” this year’s Winter Meetings were fairly uneventful. There were a few minor deals, but overall, the meetings were relatively quiet.

Colorado Rockies Must Make Moves To Be Competitive in 2010

The Colorado Rockies are becoming known as a come-from-behind team. In 2007 the Rockies completed the best three weeks to end a season in the history of the game.

In 2009, the Rockies recovered from a such a huge deficit that Congress may want to call Jim Tracy for some advice.

San Diego Padres Notes: Kevin Kouzmanoff, Milton Bradley & Others

Day three of baseball's winter meetings has seen a lot more action within just about every team in either league.

Things have even started to pick up for the San Diego Padres. There was talk yesterday that they'd had conversations with both the Giants and the Twins about a trade involving third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff.
