Interleague Play use to be a marvel to be seen. Now it is stale and old. No one wants to see that anymore, and Major League baseball needs to fix it.

How? Well, it is a complicated matter.

First, each team should play their natural rivals (e.g. St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Royals, or Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox) once a season, but rotate home field between the two teams each season. Then, throw in a second series against a team from the other league that is not the natural rival.

When the Oakland A's brought in Jason Giambi as a free agent they knew what they were getting. He was going to strengthen the lineup and add a powerful left handed hitter into the lineup as well.

Also, what was known was Giambi's excellent eye at the plate. Well his plate discipline has been horrific and he's been far from impressive in the start of his second stint as an A.

In tonight's game against the Seattle Mariners the A's had an excellent chance of getting some runs back after starting pitcher Dallas Braden allowed two in the top of the first.

Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick is most likely facing one of the most difficult decisions that he will ever have to make.  He will have to finally make a significant change in an attempt to address the problems plaguing Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and the Amp Energy No. 88 team.

Junior had a miserable run in the Coca Cola 600. He battled a wicked race car throughout, sawing on the wheel and asking his spotter to just keep him out of the way of the other cars that could actually compete on the track.

On January 6th, 2009, J.C. Romero was suspended for 50 games after testing positive for an illegal drug on Major League Baseball's banned substance list.

Immediately, Romero adamantly defended himself and had the proof to back himself up.

When you think of closers there's three names that come to mind and each of them did it in a different way. One used his dominant cutter, one used more deception with his delivery, and one used his outstanding changeup to fool hitters.

With that being said we'll examine their average season as a closer and what there best years looked like.

The Kinks sang the line "paranoia the destroyer" in their 1981 song Destroyer. He was only 3 years old at the time, but it was as if they had Cubs’ outfielder Milton Bradley—who should use the tune as his entrance music— in mind when penning those words.

Through 154 at-bats, David Ortiz has as many triples as he does home runs.  Uno, one, un, or uno again.

Ortiz hasn't been big thus far in the 2009 Boston Red Sox campaign, and since it's officially after Memorial Day, it's no longer "too early" to pose the question:  Is David "Big Papi" Ortiz done?

In short, no.  Big Papi will hit at least 20 home runs this season.

But even I would be mad if that was the entirety of the article.

Joe Torre needs to reconsider his bullpen usage before he has no arms left in October.

Torre has the Dodgers (31-15) keeping a steady pace ahead of the surging San Diego Padres. Even with the aid of a 10-game winning streak, the Padres (23-22) have only crept within 7 ½ games of the Dodgers.

Purists may cry that baseball is being harmed by the introduction of video replay to the game.

I contend that this is something that was inevitable and will help insure that the correct calls are made.

Football, hockey, and basketball have been using replays to get the right calls for years. How many of us are complaining about that? While some extreme cases have come up (I'm speaking to you, Ed Hochuli), taking a second look at a play has provided the correct result.

On Wednesday, May 27, 2009 Randy Johnson will attempt to attain his 299th victory, bringing him within one game of 300. He would be the 24th pitcher of all time to reach such a milestone. 

The question on many minds this coming Wednesday is not "will Johnson reach 300" it is, "Will Johson be the last to reach 300?"
