While watching the Cubs today, you got a great view of just how bad the Cubs supposed "stars" are, while also seeing how the less impressive players have stepped up to try to fix the situation.

The Cubs entered the day with four straight wins and were hoping to sweep a second straight two-game series, after taking the first game last night in convincing fashion.

A quarter of the way into the 2010 season, the Yankees are on pace for a 101 win season.  They lead the majors in runs scored.  Their offense is still the feared Bronx Bombers.

So why does it feel like tonight's game against the Tampa Bay Rays is a "must win?"

Baseball fans would say it's only May.  Yankees fans would say check with them come September.  But Rays fans might say divisions can be won and lost in the first six weeks.

Bo·da·cious, adjective: remarkable, outstanding.

That sounds like Eddie Bonine of the Detroit Tigers this year, does it not? That is what I have taken to calling him lately: Bodacious Bonine.

I'll go one further: Steady Eddie.

I will note, one really has to impress me in order to get labeled with the "S" word.

Baseball uniforms sure have changed over the years. From the flannel material to cotton to polyester, baseball players have adorned numerous types of fabric for the sake of team unity. But it is not just the uniforms themselves that dictate a player's appearance.

Players have gone to many lengths to alter their look on the field, adding their own personal twist to their daily gameday attire. Over the years, players have pushed the limit with their changes and looks. Some have worked while many others have not.

Brian Sabean has done some good things and he's done some bad things, but one thing is for sure: He's always done controversial things.

Come on, the guy's first move was to ship off legendary Matt Williams in a trade that (luckily) brought in Jeff Kent!

Yes, yes they should.  That's the answer to the headline.  If you got it right, good for you.  

If you are actually dumb enough to have disagreed with me, just stop reading now because I don't want have to read the stupid comments you are no doubt already formulating in your head as you skim the article.

And no, I will not apologize for the name pun in the title.

In fact, you should be glad I'm doing it now while it isn't incredibly annoying.

I know it's way too soon in the Chicago Cubs ownership career of one Tom Ricketts to say too many things about him, good or bad.

All anyone can do is evaluate the man on what he says and, more importantly, what he does.

He says he’s a Cubs fan, and that’s a positive of course. He even met his wife in the bleachers supposedly.

All well and good.

He wants to win by building through scouting and development.
