2011 Bounce-Back Player of the Week: Russell Martin, New York Yankees

In 2007, Russell Martin won a silver slugger and was generally considered one of the best catchers in the game. Since then, it has been a long steady fall from grace. Martin was plagued with MCL injuries last season, only playing in 97 games, which helped continue his streak of declining production:

MLB Preview 2011: Looking at Hunter Pence and the Houston Astros on Paper

For the first month of the season, the Astros were the worst team in baseball.  They garnered a bit of respect by finishing 33-27 down the stretch.

This is clearly a team rebuilding.  They traded their two most recognizable names, Roy Oswalt and Lance Berkman, before the trade deadline.

Texas Rangers Preview: Projecting the 5 Most Improved Rangers in 2011

Blessed with a solid core of dynamic hitters, talented pitchers and skilled defenders, the Texas Rangers possess an exciting, well-rounded team that will endeavor to defend their 2010 American League Championship.

2011 Atlanta Braves: Can Jason Heyward and Dan Uggla Lead Braves to Playoffs?

The Atlanta Braves finished the 2010 regular season with a 91-71 record, which was good enough to claim the National League Wild Card. They lost in the divisional round of the playoffs to the eventual World Series Champion San Francisco Giants in four games with every game being a one-run affair.

New manager Fredi Gonzalez replaces the legendary Bobby Cox and has a roster that should be in the playoff mix again.

Let's take a look at player-by-player projections for the 2011 Braves based on the probable Opening Day lineup.

Boston Red Sox: Projecting Their Opening Day Lineup

With Opening Day just around the corner, baseball fanboys are abuzz about what their teams are going to look like headed into the season.

While Boston’s lineup is pretty much cemented, pending any injuries, the only question remaining is how the offense is physically going to stack up, one through nine.

From the leadoff spot to the bottom of the batting order basement, let’s take a look at how the powerful Red Sox will introduce themselves to pitchers come April 1st.

MLB Preview 2011: Projecting the Boston Red Sox Starting Lineup for 2011

When it comes to his lineup, Boston Red Sox Manager Terry Francona has a lot of difficult decisions to make. He was handed some of the best puzzle pieces around and was told to “Tetris” them together to the best of his ability.

Francona better invest in those extra big pencil erasers that you used to buy in elementary school. You know, the ones that fit onto the end of the writing utensil over the small eraser that’s already attached to the pencil. I think Tito will be going through quite a few of those.

2011 MLB Preview: 10 Things the Cincinnati Reds Must Do To Win the Pennant

From 2002 to 2009, the Chicago Cubs won three division titles. The St. Louis Cardinals took the other five. The Cincinnati Reds never had a winning record during that stretch. Then, in 2010, they figured it all out.

MLB Predictions: 10 Players Who Could Make Their All-Star Debuts in 2011

Getting elected to an All-Star team in Major League Baseball means one thing: You had a stellar first half of the season.

Having good timing is everything for potential All-Stars.

Fast starters are rewarded for their spring preparation. Those slower to come around are unfairly judged at midseason, likely costing themselves extra money in future negotiations and potentially hindering part of their hall of fame candidacy in the process.
