This offseason has produced a number of memorable headlines like the Zack Greinke trade, the eight-player Matt Garza trade and the Adrian Gonzalez-Carl Crawford duo headed to Beantown. When looking at how strong a team is, people usually only cite the offense and starting pitching. Bullpens are often overlooked despite the clear correlation between winning ball clubs and the strength of their relievers.

There are some athletes in today’s world of sports that will seemingly never play for a team other than their current club.

Certain players are synonymous with their teams, and wrapping one’s head around the notion that they may play for a different team is just not plausible.

The likes of Tom Brady, Kobe Bryant, Derek Jeter, Peyton Manning and Albert Pujols could each be placed in this category.  

However, there was once a time when seeing Brett Favre, Michael Jordan, or Joe Montana in a different uniform was thought to be ludicrous.

The Phillies’ dream rotation is getting a lot of press, and it gets more here. It will be a spectacle when the regular season comes around.

With Vernon Wells being traded over from the Blue Jays for Mike Napoli and Juan Rivera, the instant reaction follows something like this:

"Why?"

To the average observer, Vernon Wells is just another overpaid outfielder who puts up above-average stats, but nothing worth the mighty contract he received.

The Angels made somewhat of a desperation move after losing out on both Carl Crawford and Adrian Beltre.

Despite the enormous amount they'll have to pay Wells, he should pan out to be an impact player in the middle of their lineup and in the outfield...right?

Kevin Youkilis’ current ADP on Mock Draft Central is 30.89, nearly 11 spots below where we believe he belongs.

Albert Pujols has won the National League Most Valuable Player Award three times, the Silver Slugger Award six times and the first base Gold Glove Award twice. He has a .331 career batting average along with 408 big league home runs.

You would think that the Cardinals would pay the man his dues, wouldn't you?

There has been speculation over the past few weeks that the Cardinals may not end up re-signing Pujols, thus potentially making Pujols a free agent next winter. What an event that would be.

One of the most disappointing moments of the Mets' 2010 season was not having a healthy outfield. Before last season even started, the Mets learned they would be without Carlos Beltran as he underwent knee surgery in January.

They did have Jason Bay, the team's biggest offseason acquisition, but after not performing for a majority of the season, he went down with a concussion in July and never returned.

The Philadelphia Phillies have re-raised the bar for their own expectations in the coming 2011 season.  As if expectations hadn't already been sky high over the past few years, 2011 may be the most hyped season in team history.  

The Toronto Blue Jays were finally able to find a taker for Vernon Wells’ hefty contract, dealing him to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim last Friday in exchange for Mike Napoli and Juan Rivera. (Click here for fantasy perspective on Vernon Wells in Anaheim.)
