The Phillies are rolling to start the season. Dominant pitching and an offense that has hit more singles than any other team in baseball. Clearly their series against the Braves meant more to their hated rivals than it did to them, but it's always nice to let the few fans Atlanta has (and the national media) that their "sexy" pick for NL East champion was wrong.

Double-headers abounded today for the Orioles organization.

Not only was the big-league squad involved, but the team's Low-A affiliate Delmarva played twice.

Unfortunately for O's prospect-watchers and minor league fans, they were subjected to two more rain-outs, this time affecting Triple-A Norfolk and High-A Frederick.

Let's get to the recaps from the night.

Bowie 2, Harrisburg 0

Today, the San Francisco Giants are celebrating their World Series Championship by donning gold lettering on their jerseys and hats. 

Personally, I hate them.

Here's how it ranks among some of the worst alternate uniforms of all time.

One the greatest right-handed hitters of all time retired on Friday afternoon.  Manny Ramirez goes riding off into the sunset after a career spent lighting up the scoreboard.

It's just "Manny being Manny."

Over Manny Ramirez's 19 year career, this catchphrase embodied who he was, a free spirit that could not be tamed. Like his personality, his bat was also a force that could not be tamed in his prime.

With a .312 lifetime batting average and 555 home runs, Ramirez established himself as one of the greatest and most feared hitters during our time, being selected to the All-Star Game 12 times.

Not much going on on the minor league front for the Orioles.

Three of the organization's four games were postponed due to rain, and will be made up at a later date. The only game that took place was the second game of Norfolk's series with Charlotte.

Charlotte 5, Norfolk 0.

The Tides looked like they would have preferred a rain-out as well, notching only three hits all night off of the Knights. 

The Orioles minor league affiliates (three of them, anyways) kicked off the 2011 season on Thursday night, and while Low-A Delmarva was the only team to emerge from the opening day slate, that's not to say that there weren't plenty of positive signs for the most surprising big-league squads' minor league system.

From national league sluggers battling it out in a home-run chase, to a Dodgers player becoming one of the first black players to play in the league, we have experienced a lot in the past 142 years of major league baseball.

It's Opening Day, which means it's time to put the spreadsheets away and head out to the ballpark for pampered grass, the smell of garlic fries and a rousing nine innings of pure bliss.

What better way to enjoy this event than sharpening your pencil and getting lost in a baseball game by keeping score?

Dating back to their first season in 1977, the Seattle Mariners have had their share of disappointments.

It may be hard to stay loyal at times, but these wily M's have a knack of sprinkling in some magic moments that help fans keep the faith.
