MLB Power Rankings:The 2011 Phillies and the 10 Biggest Preseason Favorites Ever

Offseason transactions through the history of baseball has often caused a hype for a team's favor before the season even starts.

Sometimes this hype over a team is created by these transactions, and sometimes this hype can come just from the team's performance the year before. Sometime it is the combination of both these factors that lead to a mania in favor of one team winning the World Series. We have seen that beginning this year with the 2011 Philadelphia Phillies who acquired Cliff Lee this offseason.

Fantasy Baseball 2011: Top 25 MLB Outfielder Rankings

Here’s an early look at the 2011 outfielder rankings:

1. Carlos Gonzalez, Colorado Rockies: All CarGo did last year was hit .336 with 111 runs, 34 HRs, 117 RBI and 26 SBs. He’s the total package.

2. Ryan Braun, Milwaukee Brewers: Braun regressed in 2010 (-12 runs, 7 HRs, -11 RBI, –6 RBI), but he has still averaged a .307-99-32-105-16 line in his four years.

MLB Power Rankings: The All-Time Best Player in the History of Every MLB Team

This is a TALL order. Deciding on who is the best player of all time for each MLB team is like trying to decide who the best soldier was in each of America's wars. There's absolutely no way to get everyone to agree. I'm just hoping my choices will be made as objectively as possible.

Not only am I ranking the best for each team, but I am also charged with ranking each of those players against one another. It's sort of like a ranking within a ranking. The rankings will include players from present day all the way back to the early days of each franchise.

MLB Power Rankings: Rating Each Team's Chances of Making the 2011 Postseason

The 2011 season is nearly upon us and the anticipation in the air is palpable. There is still time for teams to make improvements and increase their chances at a successful season.

But as the available free agents dwindle, the 2011 picture is coming into clearer focus.

Which teams have the best shot at the postseason will depend on a number of factors.  Some say pitching rules the day, others hang their hats on offensive outbursts.

The following is a list of all 30 teams, from worst to first, which ranks their chances at making the playoffs in 2011.

MLB Trade Rumors: Power Ranking Every Team's Odds of Making a Large Deal

Every MLB team is looking to make one or two moves to improve their team before pitcher and catchers are expected to report. Even if deals don't get made before Spring Training, the groundwork can be laid for moves that will be made later in the year.

This list has been complied with consideration given to multiple criteria: coveted prospects, movable young talent, payroll flexibility, ability to contend and an unfixable hole in a team's roster.

MLB Power Rankings: Who is the Best of the Philadelphia Phillies Rotation?

The Phillies free-agent signing of starting pitcher Cliff Lee sent shockwaves throughout the country.  Lee was supposed to bolt to the Yankees or stay with the Rangers.  In the biggest swerve of the offseason, Lee decided to return to the City of Brotherly Love.

Philadelphia already had the Big Three of Roy Halladay, Cole Hamels and Roy Oswalt.  Now it's the Big Four, or whatever moniker you desire, with the addition of Lee.

MLB Power Rankings: Ranking the 30 Teams' Projected Infields

The infield of a baseball team is the most important part of the team.  It encompasses two-thirds of the team's lineup everyday, and sees most of the action defensively.

A good infield can lead a team to the World Series, while a bad infield can lead a team to defeat.

Here is a ranking of every infield in MLB:

MLB Power Rankings: The 10 Most Clutch Hitters in Baseball

Baseball purists and new-age sabermetricians have argued about the existence of "clutch" hitting ever since statistical evaluation became possible. But whether you believe in the advanced metrics or not, you can't deny that certain players have a penchant for coming through when it matters the most.

Here are the 10 last hitters than an opposing pitcher wants to see in the bottom of the ninth inning with the winning run on base.
