Here’s an early look at the 2011 Second Base rankings.


1. Robinson Cano, New York Yankees:  Last year I ranked Cano at No. 2. All he did was go out and hit .319 with 103 runs, 29 HRs and 109 RBI. He still doesn’t have the SBs that the other elite second basemen possess, but that can be made up elsewhere.

Our 2011 fantasy baseball projections will be released one-by-one until the top 100 players have been revealed.

These rankings consider past achievements, current performance and expected future results based on standard 5×5 H2H settings.

Tigers’ first baseman Miguel Cabrera is the epitome of consistency.

Contraction is a touchy subject in any professional sport. No fan wants to hear even the slightest whisper from a league that it is considering taking away his or her team.

In Major League Baseball, if you’d like to know what fans think of contraction, just ask those of the Minnesota Twins, Montreal Expos or Florida Marlins what it felt like a few years ago when their teams' names were bandied about for the purposes of possible elimination.

Gone would be the history. Gone would be the tradition. Gone would be the favorite teams of so many diehard fans.

As the football season begins to wind down, the 2011 MLB season is right around the corner with Spring Training beginning in mid-February.  

With many interesting signings during the offseason, some of the league's most dominant players have decided to switch cities and play for another organization, such as Rafael Soriano and Cliff Lee.  

As Spring Training is quickly approaching, take a look at 10 players who are the most likely to show up to camp out of shape.

Spring training is right around the corner, and team's rosters are taking shape, as most of the free agent chips have fallen already.

With most of the starting jobs already decided, now is a good time to compare the rosters and analyze the pitching rotations of all 30 teams.

From the stacked Phillies rotation that could very well be among the best ever to the Zack Greinke-less Royals staff, here are the power rankings of all 30 MLB teams' starting rotations.

In honor of Martin Luther King Day, and to honor African American players in the major leagues, I have compiled a nine player lineup of the greatest African American players in baseball history.

There were a number of tough decisions in naming the team, and the likes of Ken Griffey Jr, Joe Morgan, and Frank Thomas, among many others didn't make the cut.

So here it is, the starting nine African American players in honor of Martin Luther King Day.

The clock is ticking on the St. Louis Cardinals to come to terms on a contract extension with the best player the Cardinals have had since Stan "The Man" Musial retired in 1963.

Albert Pujols has set a firm deadline to agree to an extension by the start of spring training.

Should Pujols not receive an extension by that time, he will become a free agent after the 2011 season.

With most of the top free agents now signed and teams starting to take shape as we approach spring training, I thought I would share my pre-pre-season perspective on the relative strengths, (and weaknesses), of all 30 major league teams.

People nowadays only worry about offense in sports.  It seems that way at least.  Long forgotten are the days of close, low-scoring games.  Or, could they actually be making a comeback?  

Though many MLB ballparks today are dominated by high-scoring games with offense in mind, there are some pitcher-friendly parks.  Places like Atlanta's Turner Field and San Diego's Petco Park are pitchers' paradises.

The 2010-2011 MLB off season was one for the books. Whether it was news regarding Carl Crawford's free agency or whether or not Zach Greinke would be traded, there was never a dull moment this winter for baseball fans. Very few teams remain in the same position as they were in November.
