The hot stove is heating up at baseball's winter meetings in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, as Carlos Pena was reportedly signed to a one-year, $10 million contract with the Chicago Cubs.

In other news, the Cliff Lee market is picking up some steam (the Yankees aren't alone in the bidding), Carl Crawford talks are running rampant and Prince Fielder trade talks are dying down.

There's no shortage of talent being shopped around at the meetings, and here's a list of the moves being talked about and what to make of them.

The MLB Hot Stove is in full swing, and a number of significant moves have already been made at the Winter Meetings. That said, there will still be plenty more action before the winter is over, as a number of teams still have glaring needs on their roster.

Looking to the National League, the Nationals already made a splash signing Jayson Werth, but who will be the next NL team to pull the trigger on a big signing?

The baseball offseason is off to a slow, but exciting start. Personnel moves are a work in progress, but some dominoes have fallen which will no doubt allow for other big names like Lee, Greinke and Crawford to be moved.

That's what came to mind when I read about the Washington Nationals signing OF Jayson Werth to a 7-year $126 million deal. Jayson Werth? Really?

That got me thinking. If Werth can command that kind of money, what is Carl Crawford worth? In the simplest terms, he is worth more. Let's take a look at a few ways Jayson Werth made sure he is going to get it.

You can never have too much pitching. Pitching wins championships. Momentum is only as good as your next day's starting pitcher. General managers, broadcasters and baseball columnists tell us as much each and every year, and each and every year these beliefs are reinforced when the biggest Free Agent starter on the market is signed to a massive contract that takes him into his late 30s.

Just a few days ago Derek Jeter and the New York Yankees agreed to a contract of three years for $51 million with an option for the fourth year. The deal almost certainly guarantees that the future Hall of Famer will never play in any other uniform.

With that, let's take a look at the top 20 players of all time who played their entire career for one organization and how Jeter ranks among them.  

Only one day into baseball's winter meetings, there have already been many major deals. Adrian Gonzalez is now a member of the Boston Red Sox, Mark Reynolds is on the Orioles and Shaun Marcum is a Milwaukee Brewer, among others.

As the winter meetings continue to heat up, many of the marquee free agents remain unsigned, namely Cliff Lee and Carl Crawford, so free agency is going to continue to make its mark this offseason. Teams will keep dealing to either get the piece they need for a title or to continue their rebuilding process.

The NL West has been very active in the early stages of the MLB offseason. Juan Uribe is a Dodger, Miguel Tejada is a Giant, Adrian Gonzalez is playing in Boston and Mark Reynolds has left the Diamondbacks for Baltimore.

With all the rumors of which players are being targeted by which teams becoming more clear, it's safe to say that the NL West is far from being solidified.

Let us take a look at trades that are either being conjured, and some that are merely rumors in the swirling MLB offseason.

With player movement really heating up over the past week or two, the rumor mill has also put a couple of coals on the fire, leaving many fans to ponder just what is fact and what is fiction.

Players such as Adrian Gonzalez (Red Sox), Jason Werth (Nationals), and Mark Reynolds (Orioles) have all found new homes, but there are plenty of other players still on the hook rumored to be in cahoots with “interested” teams, or “close” to signing a new deal.
