MLB Trade Rumors: 10 Players Whose Contracts Are Getting In The Way

The All-Star break has come and gone, and with the trade deadline under two weeks away, we will soon see who the "buyers" and "sellers" will be this season.

However, with the current state of the economy and a number of teams losing money, teams could be looking to cheaper solutions to make their pennant run, as opposed to acquiring the big-name players available on the market.

So here are the ten players who would have already been with a different team five years ago, but instead will find themselves sticking with their current teams because of their hefty contracts.

Top 10 Fantasy Starting Pitchers: First Half Edition

With the All-Star break upon us and the game’s most promising players enjoying the sunny weather in Anaheim, we here at FBS take a look at the Top 10 starting pitchers from the first half of the season.

It’s been an amazing start to the season for a man from Colorado, but there are plenty of others who have been absolutely electric for fantasy owners this season.

Derby Winners: Ranking the Home Run Derby Champions

The Home Run Derby is a yearly event that captivates the nation like few others. People are naturally attracted to the long ball, and seeing the sluggers duke it out to see who is the game's biggest bopper is a great thrill.

The first incarnation was a television show in the 1960's that showed the best hitters of the day competing for cash prizes by seeing who could hit the most big flies. Hank Aaron was the most successful, winning six straight competitions, and Mickey Mantle also won a few.

MLB Trade Rumors: 10 Teams One Move Away From Contention

With the trade deadline just around the corner, a remarkable number of teams still find themselves in contention for their respective pennants.

With the NL West and AL Central particularly tight, look for several teams to be very active as the trade deadline approaches in an attempt to put their squads over the top.

While playoff teams are often assembled during spring training, the serious contenders are usually established at this time of year.

With this in mind, here's a list of 10 teams that are one player away from being contenders.

2010 MLB All-Star Game: The All-Snub Team

The best players in baseball don't always make the All-Star teams. It's a fact of life that we have come to accept.

And yet, each year, we (or at least, I) are shocked by the idiocy of the fan, player, and coach selections. With all of the slumping stars, humdrum homers, and straight-up head-scratchers that end up filling out the rosters, it's hard not to keep thinking about the deserving players who got left off.

I feel terrible for the players who are sitting in their living rooms this All-Star Break, watching their inferior peers being honored on national TV.

Francisco Cordero: Five Options the Cincinnati Reds Have to Replace Him

Francisco Cordero is tied with Heath Bell for second in the major leagues in saves.

He is 24 for 30 (80%) for the season. His career save percentage is 81.5%. His save percentage with the Reds 85.8%.

Here are some more stats to chew on.

Of the 15 pitchers with 20 or more saves, Cordero is worst in the league in WHIP (1.55), ERA (4.20), and third worst in batting average against (.263).

The Reds pay Cordero a lot of money, so continuing to run him out there for every save will likely be the choice.

George Steinbrenner Dies: His 15 Best New York Yankees Players

The sports world lost a legend today, when former Yankees owner George Steinbrenner passed away at the age of 80.

While he was far from the most well liked figure in sports, you can't argue with his results, as he brought 11 AL Pennants and seven World Series titles to the Yankees, building them into a dynasty in the late 1990s.

Having taken the reigns in 1973, Steinbrenner saw a great numbers of players play under him in over 30 seasons as team owner, and what follows are the 15 best Yankees of the Steinbrenner era.
