Fantasy Baseball Options For Replacing Justin Morneau

First base is one of, if not the, deepest positions for fantasy owners.  Still, with Justin Morneau hitting the DL, let’s take a look at some potential replacements for those in deeper formats:

Come On Man: Several NY Yankees That Need To Put The First Half Behind

The Bronx Bombers are in first place in the AL East with the best record in baseball heading into the second half of the season, which starts tonight versus the second place Tampa Bay Rays.

But there are several Yankees who aren't in the New York Groove quite yet and need to pick up the slack as the season moves into the second half.

By no means do the Yankees absolutely "need" these players to improve in order to win the division, obviously they are already in first place, but if the Bombers want to see their 28th title come this year, then these players do need to step it up a notch.

MLB's 100 Greatest Everyday Players of the 1990s: Nos. 50-26

The '90s were an interesting time for baseball. We saw the first Canadian world champion and a strike that devastated the game.

We saw the reemergence of the Evil Empire and one of the classiest men in baseball break the consecutive games started streak, and we saw a home run chase that made baseball America's pastime once again.

This was all fueled by the players themselves.

Justin Morneau to the DL: Fantasy Baseball Pickup Options

Justin Morneau has been placed on the 15-day disabled list “as he continues to recover from a concussion that he suffered on July 7,” according to the Minnesota Twins' official website.

Morneau was attempting to break up a potential double play at second base, when he was accidentally kneed in the head.

This is Morneau’s second trip to the disabled list with concussion symptoms in his career. In 2005, he was hit in the head by a Ron Villone pitch that subsequently landed him on the DL.

Although cloudless days continue to appear in Seattle's summer sky, locals are still advised to carry umbrellas... because Jack Zduriencik is quickly plummeting downwards.

Just months after being hailed as a hero in the Emerald City for his roster overhaul filled with top-flight players, the Mariners general manager is now being scrutinized for not meeting his team's needs in the off-season.

The Phillies Five Best Wins, Five Worst Losses in the First Half of 2010

The All-Star Break is a great time to reflect on your favorite team's first half of the season: remembering the good times and the bad of the last three months.

So here they are (in my opinion): the five best wins and five worst losses for the Phillies during their first half of 2010.

Let's start with the five worst losses and finish with the wins, and therefore, a high note. Enjoy!

Dead As a Dodo: The Top Five Worst Bird Kills in Sports (With Video)

"They got in the way!" or "I didn't know it was there" are some of the best excuses that have been given for accidental bird murders. Things can sometimes get out of hand and lead to PETA coming after you or being suspended by the league.

But C'mon! Most of the time the excuses are true and it was the bird's fault.

Bleacher Report examines some of the oddest and most peculiar instances where a bird was not lucky in the end.

St Louis Cardinals Second Half Predictions, Part 2 : The Bad

What if we were picking up the pieces like after Game 6 of the 2005 NLCS? Would Cardinal Nation be happy?

No!

Therefore to follow up the Good News predictions for the first half, here is my disappointments for the second half.

It's a brutal assessment, but a World Series title is the only option. LOOGY's and PH's are exempt.

Remember, a good first-half doesn't mean a good finish. And a good finish to the regular season doesn't insure a ticket to the promised land.
