September is one of best months of the year. The weather dips to a cool, comfortable 75 degrees, football season begins, the baseball pennant races heat, and the Colorado Rockies’ Troy Tulowitzki mashes the baseball.

With the playoffs around the corner, potential matchups are being examined. The regular season is winding down and the hunt is heating up. For the Padres and Phillies, two playoff hopefuls, there is a chance the two will face each other in the postseason.

Whether the Phillies and Padres win the wild card or their divisions, there is a good chance they'll face each other, making for an intriguing matchup.

SAN DIEGO- The Padres entered Tuesday night's game against the Dodgers on a 10 game losing streak and needed a win to remain in sole position of first place.

Over the past 10 games the Padres have been losing ground to the San Francisco Giants, leaving the Padres a game ahead in the National League West. '

With one swing from the bat of Nick Hundley in the third inning of Tuesday night's game, relief seemed to take over the team.

Last Night Rewind

The Padres have been leading the NL West for virtually the whole season. Recently, a week or so ago they extended their lead to 6.5 games over the Giants. 

At this point, the team showed no signs of slowing down. Their pitching was still magnificent and their hitting was getting it done. 

The Padres also seemed to show no signs of having a major weakness, even though they didn't have a major strong point besides their pitching staff. 

It’s time for another ride on the waiver wire roller coaster.  I know some of you are searching high and low for any bit of help with all the trade activity and waiver claims that went down.  These moves can wreak havoc on a fantasy roster. 

2010 has blessed Major League Baseball with a memorable rookie class.
