Yankee Stadium

All we have been hearing about all weekend is just how expensive Yankee tickets are for 2009. The AP took weeks old single-game price information and made it a fun, "look how expensive these tickets are, OMG!1!1!!!" story.

These 30 shots were taken on March 19th and posted on Flickr today by member treman262. Hat-tip to Baseball-Fever member donut726.

As you can see they've put up a few more ads, they planted the plant in front of the bleachers, the bunting has started to go up, and the ad board behind home plate has been installed. The place is virtually finished, they're just down to the final details now.

I got an email today from the Yankees informing me that registration for the "Random Drawing for the Opportunity to Purchase Preseason Game and 2009 Regular Season Game Tickets Online" is now open.

Here's the link where you can read the official rules and register. You have from noon today to 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Mar. 17 to sign up. The drawing will take place on the 18th.

If your name is selected in the drawing then you will be able to purchase tickets.

Some of you will think this is just a Yankee-hating post (to the contrary, I'm surprised I don't get more grief for not hating the Yankees).

I was driving up the Harlem River Drive and looked across and...it just seems wrong.

I can't put my finger on it, but that Stadium just seems like it should not have been built.  Maybe I'm sensing the ghosts. Maybe I'm looking at the perfectly good Stadium right next to it.

All I keep hearing is Star Trek's Guinan saying "this isn't right" and Han Solo saying, "I have a bad feeling about this."
