As your Chicago Cubs community leader, I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy St. Patrick's Day and to salute you, the Chicago Cubs fan. I'd also like to toast all of the terrific writers who help make this the best place to get your online Cubbie fix!
To all of you baseball fans in general, who stop by to read and comment on our articles, even though you may not be Cubs fans, this toast is for you as well.
When I first became a Bleacher Creature about one year ago, we were admittedly struggling to establish the Cubs community. In fact, I knew all of the writers by name and e-mailed them personally on several occasions to encourage them.
From those humble beginnings, we have grown to a community of almost 1,000 members.
We are listed fourth overall among Bleacher Report's Popular Tags, behind only "NFL", "NBA" and the "New York Yankees".
A special shout out to Community GM Zander Freund, who encouraged me from the beginning and who, along with Bryan, Dave and Dave started this whole thing.
So let's raise a glass in appreciation of the hard work and support this community has demonstrated. As the Irish say, "May the roof above us never fall in, and may we friends beneath it never fall out."
