While the World Series is still going on, it's not too early to begin thinking about the Hot Stove League, which is set to get underway next week.

Despite a relative lack of superstar talent available via free agency, this year's offseason won't lack for big names on the rumor mill, as the futures of players like David Price, Max Scherzer, Giancarlo Stanton and others will be hotly debated.

Trick or treat? How about trick or murder-clown.

The 2013 World Series has been a memorable one for many reasons and has gone back and forth, but it's sure to end with more excitement with the series' final game (or two games) in Fenway Park.

Pitching matchups have made an impact on this series, but a couple of games have come down to wacky plays that you couldn't otherwise predict. 

The 2013 World Series has been an exciting one. Despite dropping Game 2 and 3 to the St. Louis Cardinals, the Boston Red Sox have come roaring back, taking a 3-2 lead in the series.

But while players’ minds are certainly focused on capturing a ring, many of the series’ stars will either be free agents or in line for a salary boost in the offseason.

Brian McCann has spent his entire career with the Atlanta Braves and has been one of the best offensive catchers in baseball over that span. As he prepares to enter free agency this winter, the rumors and the speculation are already starting to heat up.

Hunter Pence is locked in.  Tim Lincecum will wear orange and black for the next two seasons.  

The San Francisco Giants have successfully inked one corner outfielder and have retained another starting pitcher.  However, there are still holes to fill in both areas: The team still needs a left fielder and another starting pitcher in order to compete for a playoff spot in 2014. 

The Boston Red Sox won the all-important Game 5 of the 2013 World Series on Monday night to take a pivotal 3-2 lead, and they'll need a big-time performance to wrap it up in six games at Fenway Park.

The Los Angeles Angels were one of the most disappointing teams in baseball. After entering the 2013 season with a lot of hype, they never developed into a serious contender, finishing 18 games behind the Oakland Athletics in the AL West.

Now, the effort to fix the roster begins. The pitching staff is the main area of concern after the Angels finished with a 4.23 team ERA, which ranked 24th in the majors. They are apparently seeking ways to add some pitching by moving a couple hitters. 

With four World Series appearances in the last 10 years, the St. Louis Cardinals are baseball’s closest thing to a dynasty. 

However, rather than procure talent during the offseason like most large-market franchises, the Cardinals continue to produce winning teams the old-fashioned way: by developing players.

The offseason ahead will potentially be one of immense surprise for the Philadelphia Phillies, for a few reasons. First and foremost, the oft-mentioned television contract situation will near its climax, as the Phillies are expected to sign their new, multi-billion dollar TV deal within the next month, according to CBS Philly.
