The New York Mets' Matt Harvey nailed Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano in the right knee with a 96 mph fastball in the first inning of the 2013 MLB All-Star Game.

Cano would be forced to leave the game in the top of the first.

The 2013 MLB All-Star Game Tuesday night at Citi Field in New York has a chance to carry an interesting and historical meaning, opening the proverbial door for special opportunities in communities that need them. 

New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera will be participating in his 13th and final MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday, and his American League teammates paid homage to him in fitting fashion.

Matt Garza is arguably the best starting pitcher on the Chicago Cubs. He's certainly the best starting pitcher on the trade market this year. And that's good news for the Cubs, as their ongoing rebuild could very much benefit from a trade of Garza to a team that needs him more than they do.

All of this, however, doesn't necessarily make Garza a top-of-the-rotation starter.

Robinson Cano has chosen to let his contract negotiations with the New York Yankees stay privately between himself and the organization, but that didn't stop Jose Cano, Robinson's father, from chiming in on his son's impending free agency.
