10 Bold Predictions for Roy Oswalt as a Texas Ranger

The Texas Rangers made an unsurprising yet intriguing move by signing free-agent pitcher Roy Oswalt for the rest of the season.

Clearly the addition of Oswalt gives the Rangers the potential to be one of the best rotations in baseball for the rest of the season.

But what exactly will Oswalt accomplish with the reigning two-time American League Champions?

Here are 10 predictions for Roy Oswalt as a Texas Ranger.

Major League Baseball's 14 Most Bizarre Records You've Never Heard of

Every baseball stat fan worth his or her salt knows the big baseball records. Hank Aaron: 755 home runs. Cy Young: 511 wins. Nolan Ryan: 5,714 strikeouts, seven no-hitters.

But what about those lesser-known gems? Who has the most errors? Who has the most hit batsmen?

What follows is a list of the most bizarre baseball records of all time, those flubs (and gems) that stupefy and spur the imagination.

Most games pitched with no wins:

Tie: Juan Alvarez, 1999-2003, and Ed Olwine, 1986-1988 (80)

Oakland A's: 5 Roster Considerations for When Manny Ramirez Is Called Up

Everybody has been waiting four months for this day to arrive: The date that Manny Ramirez is eligible to rejoin a major league ballclub.

Last December, Ramirez hinted that he was interested in un-retiring from baseball, following a seven-month absence in light of his positive drug test result during May of 2011, while he was playing for the Tampa Bay Rays.

Cubs 2012 Season Looking Less and Less “Sacred” to Epstein and Hoyer

Theo Epstein’s introduction as President of the Chicago Cubs was impressive.  You won’t see a sports executive as glib and articulate as the 38 year-old Epstein. When it comes to “winning the press conference,” few have won as convincingly as he did.  Some six months later, what stands out most from that October morning is Epstein’s proclamation that “every opportunity to win is sacred.”

The Best Magglio Ordonez Home Run YouTube Videos

Magglio Ordonez is retiring after playing 15 seasons in the major leagues. He was a six-time All-Star during his time with the White Sox and Tigers. He won a batting title, three Silver Sluggers and was the runner-up for the 2007 American League Most Valuable Player award.

AL Cy Young Award Rankings: White Sox Lefty Chris Sale Cracks Top 5

Through two months (just about) of the 2012 MLB season, the American League Cy Young race features some usual suspects and one not-so-usual suspect.

That would be Chicago White Sox lefty Chris Sale. He hasn't gotten a whole lot of attention, but he's been one of the best pitchers in baseball for the month of May, and his numbers for the season are all solid. His first season as a starting pitcher is going pretty well.

New York Mets: Why a 2012 Playoff Run Depends on Acquiring a New Closer

The New York Mets have done surprisingly well so far this season, and as June nears, there are whispers of a playoff run.

They have the tools at the plate. David Wright has an all-multiverse batting average of .373, and the Mets have been pleasantly surprised by the output of Mike Baxter, Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Daniel Murphy and others once considered little more than fill-ins.

Roy Oswalt: Boston Red Sox's Missed Signing a Blessing in Disguise

The 2012 Boston Red Sox season is not going to come down to whether Roy Oswalt is going to pitch half a season or not.

The flaws that this team has—for whatever playoff run they may make—are harder to fix than by just picking up an expensive pitcher for twenty starts in a league he is not familiar with.

Roy Oswalt Signs with the Rangers, Boston Red Sox Should Focus on Kevin Millwood

What can you really say about the whole Roy Oswalt signing with the Texas Rangers scenario other than thank God its over?

The rich certainly got richer in this case.

Chris Sale, Matt Moore and Baseball's 10 Most Electric Young Lefthanders

On Monday, two of the game's top young left-handers squared off as the White Sox' Chris Sale and the Rays' Matt Moore took the hill.

The White Sox came away with a 2-1 win, but both pitchers were impressive as Sale (7.1 IP, 15 Ks) and Moore (7 IP, 10 Ks) both pitched well enough to win.

Those two are not the only southpaws who have a bright future, as there are a number of good young left-handers on their way to making a big impact in the MLB.
