The Baltimore Orioles confirmed Monday they acquired Steve Pearce, sending minor league catcher Jonah Heim to the Tampa Bay Rays to complete the deal. 

Pearce, who had previously spent four years as a member of the Orioles, is batting .309 with 10 home runs and 29 RBI in 60 games.

One word encapsulated the MLB trade deadline Monday: mayhem.

Several trades took on multiple iterations before being finalized, a slew of top players changed teams and a few squads dramatically upgraded their rosters.

Buyers and sellers got together on trade deadline day as major league teams played a high-priced game of poker.

While some late trades were still coming in, the 4 p.m. ET deadline has passed, and we look at some of the biggest deals that were made.

The Los Angeles Angels have traded reliever Joe Smith to the Chicago Cubs, ESPN's Buster Olney reported on Monday.  

Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal confirmed the deal shortly after Olney's initial report. The Cubs announced that they will be sending 20-year-old pitching prospect Jesus Castillo to the Angels in return.

The New York Yankees continued to be sellers on Monday, trading starting pitcher Ivan Nova to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Tampa Bay Rays agreed to trade starting pitcher Matt Moore to the San Francisco Giants Monday ahead of the trade deadline.  

The Milwaukee Brewers traded catcher Jonathan Lucroy after all.

A source told Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal that the Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired reliever Jesse Chavez from the Toronto Blue Jays with less than 30 minutes remaining in Major League Baseball's Monday trade deadline. 

Per Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the Dodgers have sent starter Mike Bolsinger in return for Chavez.  

With their season slipping away, the New York Yankees have traded All-Star outfielder Carlos Beltran to the Texas Rangers.   

The Cleveland Indians announced Monday that they acquired outfielder Brandon Guyer from the Tampa Bay Rays for prospects with just a little over an hour remaining in Major League Baseball's trade deadline. 

In 63 games this season, Guyer is batting .241 with seven home runs and 18 RBI.
