The rumor mill tends to run wild in the days and weeks leading up to the MLB trade deadline, and one of the biggest storylines of the 2016 trade season has been the potential availability of Chicago White Sox ace Chris Sale.

Trade season is officially upon us, and with less than a week to go until baseball's August 1 non-waiver trade deadline arrives, things are sure to pick up.

We've already seen one big trade go down this week, with the Chicago Cubs acquiring closer Aroldis Chapman from the New York Yankees for a package that included the team's top prospect, shortstop Gleyber Torres.

When Toronto Blue Jays designated hitter Edwin Encarnacion took Seattle Mariners pitcher Wade Miley deep in the fourth inning of Sunday's series finale, he surpassed Vernon Wells for third place on the all-time franchise leaderboard for home runs, per ESPN Stats & Info.

The New York Yankees are officially trade-deadline sellers. They announced as much by shipping hard-throwing closer Aroldis Chapman to the Chicago Cubs on Monday, per Jon Heyman of Today's Knuckleball.

Eight games out in the American League Central and six games back in the wild-card race, the Kansas City Royals may shop starting pitcher Edinson Volquez ahead of the Aug. 1 non-waiver trade deadline.
