Will the Baltimore Orioles Put a Longoria with Their Super-Stud in Matt Weiters?

Apr. 19, 2008.

The most important date in Tampa Bay Rays franchise history.

John Sterling Is Not Lou Gehrig

Lou Gehrig is the ultimate role model. He possessed the qualities that most individuals strive to achieve to make themselves better people.

Lou Gehrig was honest, a hard-worker, loyal, modest, respectful to others, and self-effacing.

He shunned the spotlight, and others often overshadowed even his greatest baseball achievements.

Lou Gehrig and the Yankees' Image

The New York Yankees attempt to project Lou Gehrig as the team's image.

A Vote for Manny = A Vote for All the Wrong Reasons

The MLB All-Star Game voting has been a popularity contest for years.  Everyone knows that.  We've all seen players with weak numbers get voted in by the fans merely on name recognition.  For that reason, the MLB powers-that-be began allowing the managers to hand pick players they believed were worthy of inclusion.

How To Fix Texas Rangers First-Baseman Chris Davis

Let's get one thing straight before we go any further.

Chris Davis can flat out hit.

He can mash with the best of them, which is why the Rangers have got to get him back on track.

At the moment, Davis is stuck in a ridiculous slump that begins and ends with confidence. His body language both going to the plate and heading back to the dugout screams of defeat, even before he steps in the box.

For whatever reason, this slump has gone to the kid's head. That is what needs to be fixed. If it was a mechanical issue, Rudy Jaramillo would have it fixed by now.

The Atlanta Braves' Five Best and Worst Decisions of the 2008-09 Offseason

The Braves have made some boneheaded moves (or non-moves) over the years.

A month and a half into the 2009 season, however, it seems that the Braves serisouly dropped the ball in the offseason.

Here are the Top 5 mistakes, in my opinion, that the Braves have made up to this point in the season.

Cincinnati Reds Dugout: What Is REALLY Wrong with Joey Votto?

Joey Votto has developed a health crisis this season.

Of the 47 games the Reds have played thus far, Joey has already missed eight of them and has had to come out of games as least twice.

The problem that the Reds explain is dizziness caused by an inner-ear infection, a residual effect from a recent bout with the flu.

I am not a doctor, and don’t play one on TV, but I have survived a stroke and know a thing or two about headaches and balance disorders.

OK, This Is Getting Old

This team sucks.
At least, they have really sucked for the last three weeks or so.  They have looked very much like the teams that lost 100 games three out of four years, and not at all like the team that came out of the gate strong and pushed to the top of the Central Division.  And I can only ask—what gives?

Here at Unknown Royals Fan, I choose not to focus my efforts on single players.  Therefore, if you want your Zack Grienke needs satisfied, I encourage you to read Rany Jazay

Baseball Superstars of 2009

Going into the 2009 season, teams are looking to make it back into the post-season. Fans are anxious to get another season underway, players are anxious, umpires are anxious. Another season of good, hardcore baseball.

Each season, you have those players who come out of nowhere, teams who shock the world. Who will be the league leader in home runs? What about the best pitcher of the year?

We are ¼ of the season done already. And we have players who have come out of nowhere as well. My awards so far:

Ken Griffey Jr., Manny Ramirez: All-Stars?

The voting for the All-Star baseball game has turned into a popularity contest. There is no reason that Ken Griffey Jr. and Manny Ramirez should be fourth in voting in their respective leagues.
Griffey is fourth in voting among AL outfielders with over 305,000 votes and only a little more than 1,000 votes behind third-place Ichiro Suzuki.
