Here, I give you my MLB power rankings through week 3 of the 2009 season.

1. Boston Red Sox (11-6)

I honestly think the Red Sox forgot how to lose a baseball game. A nine-game winning streak will get you an automatic top five spot no matter what in my opinion. Their offense is coming together. Strong rotation, good bullpen. Life is good in Boston.

2. Los Angeles Dodgers (13-5)

The Toronto Blue Jays, expectedly, lost on Saturday night to the White Sox in Chicago, getting blown out 10-2.

Brian Burres kept the Blue Jays in it until the fifth, when he loaded the bases and gave up an RBI single to Paul Konerko, breaking a 2-2 tie.

Shawn Camp then relieved Burres and gave up another RBI hit before Alexei Ramirez clubbed a grand slam to put the Jays behind 8-2. Amazingly, that was Ramirez's fifth grand slam already, and he's only in his second season. He became the second-fastest ever in MLB history to reach five bases-loaded jacks.

In the past two days, three Yankees have been put on the DL. Are the Yankees headed down the same road with injuries as they were last season?

Alex Rodriguez started the party with hip surgery in March and was put on the disabled list (or the DL as it is commonly known around baseball) until May 15th.

Xavier Nady was the next to go a little over a week into the season with a strain in his elbow. The Yankees aren't sure when he'll make his return.

When the Orioles first acquired Felix Pie from the Chicago Cubs this past offseason, I remember saying to myself, “Hmm…..the experiment begins.”

When is Joe going to learn how to manage the bullpen? I'm starting to think Don Mattingly should absolutely be the Yankee manager at this point. Too bad he's with Torre in L.A. now.

Looking at the first two games of the Red Sox series (especially the first one), I can't help but wonder what's going on here. In the 11th inning after getting Ortiz out why is Marte still in the game? Let's be honest; he is typically a specialist (even though I hate that kind of management) and is not fit to pitch two innings.

One of the most unappreciated positions in baseball is the Catcher. I know, I am guilty of the sin myself.

Catchers are very knowledgeable about the game, actually driving the machine, so to speak. I haven’t done the research on it, but I believe the best managers are former catchers.

Yeah, Pitchers get all of the glory, all of the accolades.

The Catcher is there to get bowled over by a base runner, taking a risk on ending his career (apologies to Ray Fosse).

Tim Redding moved one step closer to returning to the major league club yesterday, when he pitched four scoreless innings during extended spring training.

Redding had off-season toe surgery and after signing with the Mets he attempted to rush back, resulting in a shoulder issue from over compensating for the toe.

To everyone who resisted the desire to touch the clicker late in the impending shutout in Friday night's Phillies game with the Marlins, I commend you.

I have but one thing to say: That’s why we call him Shane Victorino!

Did you see that?! His grand slam was sweet!

So maybe it wasn't as immortal as the one he slammed when we crushed C.C. (wait, he prefers "CC'; I'm rolling my eyes here) Sabathia in the Playoffs, but it hit the spot, no doubt.

According to Peter Abraham of the Journal News, Yankees' setup man Brian Bruney’s elbow problems are nothing serious, just a strained flexor muscle in his right elbow, and he should be back within the next 2-3 weeks.
